CNN Data Reporter Spots How JD Vance Is 'Making History In The Completely Wrong Way'

CNN s senior political data reporter Harry Enten explained why he believes Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance is currently making history in the completely wrong way.

Frankly, I dont really understand the pick, Enten told Outfront anchor Erin Burnett on Tuesday of Donald Trump s decision to run alongside Vance instead of a more moderate figure.

And apparently, neither do the American voters, Enten continued. Because, we take a look at the net favorable rating for JD Vance, thats the favorable minus unfavorable. Its in negative net territory. Look at that. Negative six points.

Enten said hed trawled polling data back to 1980 and discovered that Vance is the first vice presidential nominee since then to have a net negative favorable rating that is underwater so soon after the convention.

The average since 2000 is plus 19 points, he pointed out, adding that presidential running mates are usually very popular but in this case, hes dragging Trump down.

Trumps pick of Vance has come under increasing scrutiny since President Joe Biden s decision to nix his reelection campaign and endorse Vice President Kamala Harris as his replacement.

With Harris campaign appearing to gain momentum and raking in big fundraising dollars, some commentators have suggested Vances extremist policies may now do more harm than good to Trump in the latters quest to swing on-the-fence suburban voters.
