CNN anchor Jim Acosta sparred with Georgia Republican Party Chair Josh McKoon about the upcoming presidential election and Donald Trump s efforts to overturn the results of the 2020 contest in the state in a contentious interview on Thursday.

After Acosta asked if McKoon would trust the results this time around, the state party chair claimed it would be much more secure election than 2020.

We dont have ballot drop boxes scattered randomly all over the state. We dont have election officials , McKoon said.

But Josh, youre making suggestions that there was some kind of tomfoolery and shenanigans going on last time around, said Acosta, who added that Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger (R) has said Trump lost fair and square in a secure, free and fair election.

Acosta later added, Im just, Im just saying, Josh, what youre saying is horse crap.

McKoon went on to claim that Acosta was pushing a dishonest narrative before the CNN anchor hit back.

What is the dishonest narrative? What is the dishonest narrative? The election was secure last time around, Josh, Acosta said. Youre just lying. Youre just lying.

Acosta noted earlier that Georgia Republicans like Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene are already claiming that the 2024 election is being stolen and aired a clip of the former president calling Raffensperger to ask him to find 11,780 votes the exact number he needed to win following his 2020 loss.

Wasnt it, in fact, the former president who was trying to pull a fast one in that election? Acosta then asked. McKoon insisted that Trump was addressing allegations tied to people that were allowed to vote that should not have been allowed to vote under Georgia law.

No, no, no. Josh, thats not thats not what happened there, said Acosta, who went on to repeatedly dismiss McKoons claims.
