President Barack Obama , former President George W. Bush and Vice President Joe Biden were among those who gathered to mourn the five police officers killed during an attack at a demonstration in Dallas last week.

Four Dallas Police Department officers and one Dallas Area Rapid Transit officer died in the ambush-style shooting , which took place during a Black Lives Matter protest.

"Ive hugged too many families that lost a loved one to senseless violence," Obama said.

Bush also spoke at the service. "At our best we know we have one country, one future, one destiny. ... We want the unity of hope, affection and high purpose," he said.
