Eagles of Death Metal, the American blues-rock band that was performing at Paris' Le Bataclan when terrorists attacked Friday night, said its members are horrified and stand in solidarity with the French people.

Shortly after the band took the stage, three terrorists opened fire into the crowd of about 1,500. Eighty-nine people were killed in the attack at the venue.

"Although bonded in grief with the victims, the fans, the families, the citizens of Paris, and all those affected by terrorism, we are proud to stand together, with our new family, now united by a common goal of love and compassion," the California-based band said Wednesday in its statement.

The band also thanked "all those at ground zero with us who helped each other as best they could during this unimaginable ordeal, proving once again that love overshadows evil."

Bataclan owners issued a statement earlier this week, saying they are thinking of the victims.

"No words can express the level of sadness we feel ," it reads. "Our thoughts go to the victims, to those injured and to their loved ones."
