Joe Scarborough, a co-host of MSNBC's \"Morning Joe,\" said Trump's biggest challenge is the \"exhaustion\" from voters who backed him in the two previous presidential elections but have since soured on him over his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, among other things.

\"So now, it seems you have exhaustion on that side versus energy and joy\" over Harris' campaign, Scarborough said.

Scarborough added that a new ABC News-Washington Post-Ipsos poll showing the vice president ahead in a head-to-head matchup with Trump indicates the Democrats' strategy \"really seems to be working.\"

The Democratic National Committee confirmed to several media organizations it was responsible for projecting messages targeting the Republican presidential ticket on Chicagos Trump Tower.

Former Rep. David Jolly (R-Fla.) said Trump's rambling speeches are not working to his advantage, warning that he is at risk of losing the election.

\"Hes more like the aging rock star whose fans have kind of faded away, so its more like a reunion tour for him,\" Jolly told MSNBC. \"It just doesnt quite have the spark it had in 2016, and the lack of enthusiasm is there as well and hes not helping himself.\"

Speaking to reporters during a bus tour in Pennsylvania, Harris said she still considers herself the \"underdog\" in this presidential race, despite a new poll showing her leading Trump nationally.

\"I very much consider us the underdog,\" she said. \"We have a lot of work to do to earn the vote of the American people.\"

Asked if Benjamin Netanyahu is prepared to agree to a cease-fire deal with Hamas, Harris said she can't speak to the Israeli leader's plans.

\"The conversations are ongoing and we are not giving up,\" she said. \"We are going to continue to work very hard on this. We've got to get a cease-fire and we've got to get these hostages out.\"

Pro-Palestinian protesters are expected to take to the streets this week in Chicago as the DNC gets underway.

Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer told NBC's \"Meet The Press\" she anticipates Trump will use similar tactics to the ones he deployed in 2020 to call the election result into doubt if he loses in November.

\"I think he's already trying to stoke the suspicions of people. And I think that's an effort directly to play into his ability to discount the outcome of this upcoming election if he doesn't like the outcome,\" Whitmer said. \"That's not how democracy works.\"

Whitmer added that it's important to be \"vigilant,\" noting that her state has made efforts to protect election workers, among other things.

\"But I still anticipate that they will use similar tactics to what they used four years ago,\" she said. \"And I think that we should all be very concerned about that, and what that could mean for safety, for integrity of our democratic institutions, and the future of this country.\"

Democratic vice presidential candidate Tim Walz joined TikTok on Friday as the campaign seeks to expand its outreach to young Americans.

His account has so far garnered over 940,600 followers, while the first video he posted, in which he appeared alongside his dog, Scout, was viewed over 5.2 million times.

His GOP rival JD Vance, who also joined TikTok earlier this month, has over 336,200 followers on the platform.

Meanwhile, Democrats are preparing to harness the power of social media creators during their party convention in Chicago this week as five influencers with a collective following of over 24 million across different platforms are set to deliver remarks on stage, according to The New York Times.

An estimated 20,000 activists are expected to make a showing near the Democratic National Convention in Chicago this week to bring attention to the war in Gaza and other issues, according to the Associated Press.

The city of Chicago rejected activists' requests to protest near United Center, the site of the DNC. However, the city did agree to permit demonstrations at a park and allowed a marching route that is closer to the United Center.

Without saying Donald Trumps name, Vice President Kamala Harris slammed her opponents bullying tactics, appearing to call him a coward during a stump speech in Rochester, Pennsylvania.

Harris told staff outside of the Harris-Walz campaign field office that her campaign is about lifting others up.

Over the last several years, there's been this kind of perversion that has taken place, I think, which is to suggest that the measure of the strength of a leader is based on who you beat down, Harris said, speaking to staff outside of the Harris-Walz campaign office. What we know is the real and true measure of a leaders is based on who you lift up.

She added: \"Anybody who's about beating down other people is a coward.\"

Harris and Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, her running mate, spent Sunday touring Western Pennsylvania with their spouses ahead of the Democratic National Convention, set to begin Monday.

At a rally in the critical battleground state of Pennsylvania, Trump wound back and forth between hitting his points on economic policy and delivering a smattering of insults and impressions.

Earlier this month, Trump held a news conference during which he shared false or baseless claims about his crowd sizes, the unconstitutional elevation of Harris as the Democratic nominee and a tale about a near-death helicopter crash with Willie Brown which, according to Brown, never happened.

Sources told The Washington Post that Trump held the news conference because he heard his team would be holding a briefing to discuss the campaigns plan to defeat Harris, but wanted to speak for himself.

The full crowd at Trumps rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, began thinning towards the end of the former presidents speech, which lasted over 100 minutes, according to The New York Times.

Harris' vice presidential pick gave a speech in Nebraska, the state where he was born and raised, on Saturday.

During his rally in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, Trump criticized Biden and Harris efforts to provide student debt relief.

She's giving everybody free everything. Never going to happen, he said. Remember, the college debt, the student debt that we are going to give, it never happened. It was all talk.

Republicans have repeatedly attempted to push back on the student debt relief plan. Last year, GOP lawmakers blocked Bidens student debt plan, which would have canceled $10,000 in student debt for qualifying federal borrowers. Similar efforts were made earlier this year as well when Republican-led states filed a lawsuit against the Biden administration to challenge the student loan repayment plan.

At one point, Trump claimed with no evidence that Harris wants there to be a total of 27 justices on the U.S. Supreme Court.

She has, of course, made no such claim. Court reformers who support expanding the bench typically advocate for adding a small handful of seats.

\"We can't let these radical left thugs constantly scream at our judges, and say, 'We're going to impeach them and take them out of office,'\" Trump told his crowd.

\"Joe Biden hates her, OK? Hates her,\" Trump said. Then, to the crowd: \"You don't mind if I go off teleprompter for a second, do you?\"

\"I look forward to debating her, by the way. She'll be easier than him.\"

Trump is expected to offer a bit of counterprogramming while his opponents celebrate the Harris-Walz ticket at the DNC next week. After facing criticism for failing to compose a coherent message against the Democrats, he is supposed to give remarks focusing on a few key themes that his campaign considers winning issues.

He is scheduled to arrive Monday in Middletown, Pennsylvania, around 1:30 p.m. Eastern time, and make a speech on the economy at 3 p.m. in York, Pennsylvania.

He is then scheduled to hold a rally Tuesday in Howell, Michigan, at around 3 p.m. Eastern time. Trump, a convicted felon, is expected to speak about crime and safety in Howell, which is known locally for its past ties to the Ku Klux Klan.

He is also expected to visit North Carolina and Arizona in the coming week, according to CNN.

Its a close race between Trump and Harris in four key swing states, according to new polling from The New York Times and Siena College conducted between Aug. 8 and Aug. 15.

The polling found that Harris leads Trump by 5 points in Arizona and by 2 points in North Carolina. Trump is up by 1 point in Nevada and by 4 points in Georgia.

New York Times pollster Nate Cohn wrote that \"a dead heat in these four states is not great news for Mr. Trump, who may need to take all three of Georgia, North Carolina and Arizona to win in November.\"

The results mark a significant improvement for Democrats. Previous Times-Siena polling, taken when President Joe Biden was still in the race back in the spring, found Trump to be ahead by at least 6 points in Arizona, Nevada and Georgia. (It didn't include North Carolina.)

Harris' presidential campaign announced Saturday that it was reserving more than $370 million worth of advertising for the final months of the White House race, with a $200 million majority of the money going to digital platforms rather than traditional television.

\"The Harris-Walz campaigns advertising strategy is designed to break through a fragmented media environment and reach the voters who will decide this election,\" Quentin Fulks and Rob Flaherty, two of Harris deputy campaign managers, wrote in a memo about the move.

The ad buy, first reported in The New York Times, covers the period between the Labor Day holiday and the Nov. 5 election. The campaign is now in the middle of a $150 million ad buy for the month of August.

The focus on digital, which will include ad buys for Hulu, Roku, YouTube, Paramount, Spotify and Pandora, represents a significant shift from past presidential campaign strategies. The Harris campaign said that more than 80% of Joe Bidens initial advertising buy for the final months of the 2020 presidential election went to traditional television.

\"We believe we are well on pace to spend more on digital persuasion media than any political organization ever,\" Fulks and Flaherty wrote.

Harris and second gentleman Doug Emhoff are expected to campaign in Pennsylvania Saturday afternoon, delivering remarks at an event in the town of Rochester, outside Pittsburgh, around 2:30 p.m. Eastern time. She is set to then jet off to Chicago, where the DNC starts Monday.

President Joe Biden, meanwhile, is visiting Maryland's Camp David this weekend, where he will reportedly be finessing a speech he is expected to give Monday night at the DNC. He is set to return to the White House on Sunday night.

Trump is scheduled to speak at a rally at 4 p.m. Eastern time at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Wilkes-Barre Township, located in northeastern Pennsylvania.

On the heels of Harris' speech in North Carolina that focused primarily on the economy, Trump posted a familiar diatribe to his own social network, focused primarily on immigrants.

\"Kamala Harris wants to raise your taxes and make you pay for free healthcare and free housing in luxury hotels for her millions of illegal aliens,\" Trump wrote as part of a three-post series on Truth Social.

In another post, he wrote: \"Kamala Harris is allowing Venezuela's dangerous criminals to freely enter our country through her WIDE OPEN Southern Border ... If Kamala is elected and implements her Communist Price Caps, there will be famine, starvation, and poverty, the likes of which we have never seen. America will NEVER recover!\"

Vances plane made an emergency landing in Milwaukee on Friday after a door seal on the aircraft malfunctioned, his campaign told The Washington Post.

The Boeing 737 plane was enroute from Milwaukee, where Vance held a campaign event, to Cincinnati, where he lives. The aircraft made an emergency landing shortly after taking off from Milwaukee, received repairs and resumed its trip.

Harris on Friday touted agenda items for her first 100 days as president including a $6,000 tax credit for parents of young children.

Democrats have long championed a bigger child tax credit, but the sum Harris proposed is larger than any Democrat previously suggested and its exactly $1,000 more than Republican vice presidential candidate JD Vance suggested earlier this week.

Harris concluded her remarks by knocking Trump for his recent events that were touted as being about the economy and cost of living, but mostly focused on his typical grievances about Democrats and the media.

He said he was going to talk about the economy, she said. I think you all watched.

She continued: He offered no serious plans to reduce costs for middle class families. That actually for most of us was not surprising. Because we already know his plans. We know the Project 2025 agenda. So theres a choice in this election: Donald Trumps plans to devastate the middle class, punish working people and make the cost of living go up for millions of Americans, and on the other hand, when Im elected president, what well do to bring down costs, increase the security and stability financially of your family and expand opportunities for working and middle class Americans.

Harris also urged voters to think about who Trump is helping with his proposals: I think if you want to know who someone cares about, look who they fight for.

Donald Trump fights for billionaires and large corporations, she said.

While talking about her economic and health care policies, Harris warned that Trump wants to gut Medicare and undo work to take down prescription drug costs.

And remember and this is why were not going back because we do remember [Trump] tried to cut Medicare every year he was president, threatening a program that tens of millions of seniors rely on.

In March, Trump again suggested he would cut programs including Social Security and Medicare in a second term.

Harris also mentioned Project 2025, an agenda set by those in Trumps orbit that could be enacted should Trump get a second term.

And according to his Project 2025 agenda, he intends to undo our work to bring down the cost of prescription drugs and insulin costs, Harris said. Well, weve come too far for that to happen.

Harris went after Trump for his proposed tariffs on imported goods, describing them as in effect a national sales tax.

He wants to impose what is in effect a national sales tax on everyday products and basic necessities that we import from other countries, Harris said. That will devastate Americans. It will mean higher prices on just about every one of your daily needs. A Trump tax on gas. A Trump tax on food. A Trump tax on clothing. A Trump tax on over-the-counter medication.

And you know economists have done the math, she continued. Donald Trumps plan will cost a typical family $3,900 a year. At this moment when everyday prices are too high, he will make them even higher.

Harris was citing figures estimated by the Center for American Progress, a liberal think tank.

Harris vowed that \"building up the middle class will be a defining goal of my presidency, and spoke about some of her own experiences growing up in a middle class household.

She recalled how her family rented their home for most of her childhood, and how her mother saved for 10 years to purchase a home.

She also recounted her time working at a Washington, D.C. McDonalds to help her pay her expenses while studying at Howard University, and how many of her coworkers there were working two or three jobs to pay rent and feed their families.

As president I will take on the high costs that matter most to most Americans like the cost of food, she said. We all know that prices went up during the pandemic when the supply chains shut down and failed. But our supply chains have now improved and prices are still too high.

Harris is in North Carolina to unveil a slate of economic proposals, including building more homes, expanding the child credit and banning price gouging on groceries.

Together we will build what I call an opportunity economy, Harris said. An economy where everyone can compete and have a real chance to succeed.

She also immediately drew contrasts between her economic proposals and Trumps.

This election I do strongly believe is about two very different visions for our nation, Harris said at the top of of her remarks. One, ours, focused on the future, and the other focused on the past.

Trump will hold an event in York, Pennsylvania on Monday, the first day of the Democratic National Convention.

According to Trump's campaign, the former president will \"deliver remarks on the economy.\" Trump's two most recent events were also both ostensibly focused on the economy, during which he quickly veered off into familiar rants about Harris, media coverage, Hillary Clinton and his criminal trial in Manhattan.

His speech is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET.

The New York Times reported Friday that former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard (D-Hawaii) is helping Trump \"sharpen his attacks\" against Harris during debate preparations at Mar-a-Lago.

Gabbard ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 and subsequently left the party. Since then, she's shifted further to the right, even saying early this year she'd be \"honored\" to serve as Trump's running mate.

Gabbard has firsthand experience squaring off against Harris, most notably during a July 2019 debate in which Gabbard famously tore into Harris' record as a prosecutor.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi will deliver remarks at the Democratic National Convention on Wednesday, according to Punchbowl News.

Suzan DelBene, the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, and Rep. Tom Suozzi (D-N.Y.) will also be speaking at the convention on the same day, Punchbowl reports.

The Harris campaign is bringing on Ian Sams as a top spokesperson, according to a new Washington Post report.

Sams will depart his current role as an oversights and investigations spokesperson at the White House, and join Harris to aid her in her presidential bid.

The widely anticipated presidential debate between Harris and Trump on ABC News will take place at 9 p.m. ET on Sept. 10, the network announced. The event will be hosted at the National Constitution Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania a key battleground state in this election with anchors Linsey Davis and David Muir set to moderate.

VP candidates Walz and Vance are scheduled to face off in a CBS News debate on Oct. 1, while the Harris campaign said theyd be open to an additional debate between her and Trump in October.

The Trump campaign on Friday announced the members of the group that would oversee the transition to the White House should the former president win the election in November.

The announcement comes a lot later than precedent. Usually, the process begins in the spring and is in place by the party nominating convention.

HuffPost reported earlier this month that the lack of transition preparations could mean that Trump was planning to rely on the Project 2025 database of job-seekers being vetted for their MAGA loyalties for positions in a new administration.

More Americans have a favorable first impression of Walz than they do Vance, according to a Washington Post-ABC News-Ipsos poll.

In the poll of 2,336 adults, 39% found Walz favorable and 30% found him unfavorable, compared with 32% favorable and 42% unfavorable for Vance. A quarter of adults didn't have an opinion yet.

The vice presidential contenders are well-liked within their own parties. Republicans net favorability for Vance is +55, and for Walz among Democrats it's +72.

This will allow people who use wheelchairs to directly access the convention floor and to sit with their delegations instead of having to view the convention from a separate area, as in previous years.

At these conventions, theres a lot of state-based unity, camaraderie and coalition building. [Separate wheelchair seating] really negatively impacted my experience,\" Emily Voorde, a delegate for Indiana in 2012 who will return this year, told The 19th News.

\"2012 was really isolating. Being able to sit together with the Indiana delegation is immensely important to me,\" Voorde said.

Jim Messina, the campaign manager for former President Barack Obama's 2012 White House bid, said that while Democrats appear energized by the momentum Harris' campaign is enjoying at the moment, the election will be \"incredibly close.\"

\"This race is still just tied,\" Messina told Fox News' Dana Perino. \"This thing is to be very, very close.

Messina added that Trump has \"the most solid base in American politics,\" noting that the race will ultimately be determined by swing voters.

New Hamphire Gov. Chris Sununu (R) told Fox News' Neil Cavuto that as long as Trump stays focused on policy and the public's concerns around the economy, he will be in a position to win in November.

\"In September and October, the cost of living is going to be a very real issue in this campaign, a very real issue for Americans as long as the former president can keep his focus there and stay professional on the campaign and talk about the things that Americans want to talk about,\" Sununu said.

\"As soon as he goes off tangent, that's where he's letting the Democrats take the election that should be his by a landslide,\" he added.

Sununu, a former fierce critic of Trump, is now supporting his White House bid.

Trump on Thursday brushed off calls by fellow Republicans to focus on policy matters and lay off the insults during his presidential campaign, insisting that he is entitled to level personal attacks on Harris.

The vice president reportedly participated in a mock presidential debate at her alma mater, Howard University, on Monday as she gears up for the real event on Sept. 10.

The New York Times reports she is working on her prep with a small team of advisers, including Democratic operative Philippe Reines, who will serve as the mock Trump. Reines is known to dress up in character, and the Times notes he was seen appearing like the former president including a long tie during the mock debate.

Harris has rarely been near Trump in person and the pair have never met. The Times notes the only time they have been in the same room was during his State of the Union addresses.

Harris is set to propose a new plan that would provide up to $25,000 in down payment support for first-time homeowners, a campaign official told ABC News.

The Wall Street Journal added that Harris will also call for the construction of 3 million new housing units during her first term in office, including a new tax incentive for builders who construct housing for first-time buyers.

The vice president is set to announce more details from her economic policy, which includes generous support for first generation homebuyers, in North Carolina on Friday.

Trump is asked if he regrets agreeing to the June debate, which precipitated Bidens departure from the race and Harris subsequent surge.

It was his request, Trump said of Biden. He said we should get the debates on early.

Trump then spent several minutes rambling about the debate terms he agreed to, and offering rare praise for CNN hosts Jake Tapper and Dana Bash. He also said he doesnt think the ABC debate will be fair for him.

I have a lot of people at ABC that dont like me, George Slopadopolous, referring to ABC News host George Stephanopoulos.

Trump eventually returned to the question, claiming that Harris campaign is hiding her now that Biden is out of the race.

Had he not done the debate, he would still be running for president and people would be hiding him, just like theyre hiding her, Trump said. I believe shes grossly incompetent. And I dont think that when people hear what she has to say that theyre going to buy it.

With that, Trump departed the press conference.

One reporter asked Trump whether he was really comfortable with companies threatening to fire workers that go on strike, referencing a comment he made on Monday. During his conversation with billionaire Elon Musk, Trump praised the way Musk who is notoriously hostile to unions handled his workers.

Trump responded, Well no, I want companies to get workers that are gonna love them, and work for a wage that lets the company make a profit so they can grow and expand.

You got to run the company productively. A person doesnt get lucky and find a job. I want a person who can look for 10 jobs and all 10 companies want them and you negotiate a great much more than by you get by doing what you just suggested.

While this press conference is ostensibly about the economy and the cost of living, Trump has returned time and time again to familiar complaints about his 2016 opponent, Hillary Clinton, and the gag order imposed on him as part of his criminal case in Manhattan.

\"With Hillary, she was subpoenaed by Congress to give everything she's got, and she burned it, she acid washed it... She totally scrubbed it,\" he claimed, referring to her controversial use of a private email during her time as secretary of state. \"And everybody said, 'lock her up, lock her up.' I used to go, 'easy, just easy,' and then we won.

\"He also complained at length about the gag order.

\"When you ask me a question, I can't give you an answer because if I give the answer, they want to put you in jail. He said, 'we'll put him in jail if he talks beyond the gag order,'\" Trump said. \"What they're doing is interference with an election.\"

Trump defended his campaign when asked about recent criticism from former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, who said Trump should quit whining so much on the campaign trail, stop calling Harris \"dumb\" and stop complaining about crowd sizes.

Trump said he was going to campaign his own way, although he said he appreciated the input.

I think Im entitled to personal attacks, Trump responded to a journalist who asked about his critiques of Harris, which have veered into personal territory even after Republicans called to tone down divisive rhetoric after Trump's assassination attempt.

Trump went on: I dont have a lot of respect for her, I dont have a lot of respect for her intelligence, and I think shell be a terrible president, and I think its very important that we win. And whether the personal attacks are good, bad she certainly attacks me personally.

She actually called me weird. Hes weird. It was just a sound bite. And she called JD [Vance] and I weird. Hes not weird, he was a great student at Yale, he went to Ohio State, graduated in two years at the top of his class, and all of these different things,\" he said.

Shes weird in her policy, Trump added.

Trump turned to the two tables of groceries at the end of a nearly hour-long set of remarks he gave before taking reporters questions.

I dont like the tags very much, Trump said of the price tags, which were not visible on a live stream of the event.

School lunches up 65%, how can a family afford that? Trump said, without citing his source.

I think Im going to take some of them back to my cottage and have a lot of fun. Like the Cheerios, I havent seen Cheerios in a long time. Im gonna take them back. Bacon is through the roof theyre all through the roof!

For more than 45 minutes at the top of what was billed as a press conference, Trump attacked Harris and revisited the economic proposals he talked about on Wednesday. Among his targets were green energy initiatives like electric vehicles and wind power.

You want to see a bird cemetery? Just go under a windmill, Trump said. Its a green scam.

He spoke at length about migrants, making one of his usual ugly claims about South and Central American countries: Theyre taking their drug dealers, and their rapists, murderers every criminal and bringing them into the United States. Trump pointed to a 2016 double murder case that MS-13 gang members were recently charged in.

In Long Island, not too recently, but recently, they carved up with a knife two beautiful girls who were walking to school. And the reason they used a knife instead of shooting them, its very simple. Its more painful. They wanted to watch them agonize. And these are animals and we have to get them out of our country, Trump said.

Trump falsely claimed \"you're allowed to rob a store as long as it's not more than $950\" thanks to a policy put in place while Harris served as attorney general of California.

\"You can rob a store, you have thieves going into stores with calculators, calculating how much it is, because if it's less than $950 they can rob it and not get charged. That was her that did that,\" he said during his press conference.

That is, obviously, false. In 2021, the AP explored the false claim that thefts under $950 would not be prosecuted, clarifying that thefts under $950 would not be prosecuted as felonies.

A CNN report published Thursday featured a video of a co-author of Project 2025, a conservative outline for plans if Trump wins this November, discussing his policy preparations in case Republicans take back the White House.

Biden went on the offense, slamming Republicans for refusing to support their efforts to lower Medicares drug costs and giving Trump a new nickname.

After months of being criticized for his age, Biden is finally leaning into the joke and made fun of his age early on in this speech.

Biden said he focused on regulating the prices of pharmaceutical drugs during his freshman year as a senator.

I served in the Senate for 270 years, Biden joked.

I was only 29 when I got elected, noting that he used to be criticized for being too damn young.

He added: \"Now I'm too damn old.

Biden is currently unveiling agreements that will lower the prices of 10 treatments, reducing costs for the Medicare program and for some individual seniors.

In a Thursday statement, the Harris-Walz campaign said they would participate in two presidential debates and one vice presidential debate. The statement came after Vance said he would agree to do two debates with Walz.

Republicans had a plan for former Trumps speech Wednesday afternoon in Asheville, North Carolina. His 2024 presidential campaign announced that the address would focus on the economy, an area where he still generally polls ahead of Harris, even as shes closed the gap. It could be, the campaign clearly hoped, a chance to reset the race after a monthlong span in which Harris managed to turn a distinct GOP lead into a toss-up contest.

Multiple Republicans went on Trumps favorite platform cable news to remind him to focus on policy. On the Asheville stage, they flanked him with signs touting two elements of his campaign platform: no tax on tips and no tax on Social Security.

The Trump campaign has brought back Corey Lewandowski, a former Trump adviser who took a plea deal in 2022 over allegations he made sexual advances to a GOP donor at a Las Vegas event.

Lewandowski has been brought back into Trumps orbit to advise the campaigns senior leadership team, according to a report by Politico.

After Trumps election loss in 2020, Lewandowski told ABC News journalist Jonathan Karl that Trump knew he lost.

He knows it is over, Lewandowski reportedly told Karl. He just wants to create enough doubt about Bidens victory so that when he leaves he can say he didnt lose and that it was stolen from him.

In 2006, while Walz ran for Congress, his campaign falsely described the details of a 1995 drunk driving arrest, according to a new report from CNN.

Court and police records obtained by CNN show Walz admitted in court he had been drinking when he was pulled over in Nebraska for going 96 mph in a 55 mph zone. Walz, who was 31 when this occurred, also had a blood alcohol level of .128, well above the legal limit of 0.1 at the time, according to the report.

His 2006 campaign falsely claimed Walz wasnt drinking and that he was allowed to drive himself to jail that night.

In 2018, while running for governor for Minnesota, Walz admitted to drinking and driving and said it was a life-changing moment for him. Walz has said he no longer drinks alcohol.

In a letter dated Wednesday but made public Thursday, Trumps legal team asked Judge Juan Merchan to push back the former presidents hush money sentencing date to after the Nov. 5 election.

Trump was found guilty on 34 felony counts in New York criminal court on May 30.

There is no basis for continuing to rush, Trump attorney Todd Blanche wrote in the letter to Merchan. Blanche also suggested that the current date, Sept. 18, is too close to the election and could be perceived as interference.

The judge, however, has already pushed back the sentencing date once. Originally scheduled for July 11, Merchan rescheduled the sentencing after the Supreme Courts presidential immunity ruling July 1. The judge is expected to weigh in on how the ruling applies to the facts of Trumps case before announcing the sentence.

Trump once again suggested that Democrats stole the presidential nomination from Biden, who willingly dropped out of the race in July, painting the consolidation of support for Harris as a coup.

Kamala Harris wants NOTHING TO DO WITH CROOKED JOE BIDEN. They are throwing him out on the Monday Night Stage, known as Death Valley, Trump wrote on Truth Social. Biden is expected to speak at the Democratic National Convention on Monday evening, as he hands off leadership of the party to Harris.

Trump has made far-fetched claims about what will happen at the DNC, including that Biden is plotting to somehow retake the presidential nomination.

A Politico report this week suggested Biden does in fact harbor lingering frustrations with top Democratic leaders like former President Barack Obama and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.

In a statement shared on his account on X, formerly Twitter, Vance said he would agree to two debates with Walz.

Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well, he said. I look forward to seeing you at both!

The September date coincides with Trumps sentencing hearing in the New York hush money case.

Walz had already accepted the invitation from CBS, but Vance had not committed to showing up.

Biden and Harris are set to hold their first event together since he announced he was dropping out of the 2024 election.

The two are expected to deliver remarks in Maryland this afternoon on the administrations efforts to lower the price of drugs, among other things.

Former GOP presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy identified a missed opportunity for Republicans in not calling out Harris over her policy positions.

In an interview with Politico Playbook, Ramaswamy said he has shared this advice with Trump, who seemed receptive to the idea.

I think we can win this thing not only by a small margin, but still in something that resembles a landslide, Ramaswamy said.

But thats not up to anybody else but us. And so thats the work we have cut out for our own side. And if we do it, I think we win. And if not, I think we lose, he added.

In the days leading up to his announcement that he would drop out of the presidential race, Biden was still not convinced he would lose to Trump. Instead, Biden chose to withdraw his candidacy to avoid a bitter feud within the Democratic Party, according to a new report by The New York Times.

What began to change the presidents mind, people familiar with his thinking say, was the realization that if he stayed in the race, he was in for a lonely battle that would rip apart the Democratic Party, the cause he had served nearly his entire life, Michael D. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's office denied he spoke to Trump about a possible cease-fire deal between his country and Hamas.

\"Contrary to media reports, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu did not speak yesterday with former President Donald Trump,\" a statement from the Israeli leader's office reads, according to Reuters.

Axios' Barak Ravid reported the two men spoke on the phone, citing two officials briefed on the call. One source said Trump tried to nudge Netanyahu to agree to the deal.

The Biden administration announced the first-ever negotiations between the federal government and pharmaceutical companies have led to agreements that will lower the prices of 10 treatments, reducing costs for the Medicare program and for some individual seniors.

The topic is expected to be the focus of remarks when Biden appears with Harris at a joint event in Maryland this afternoon.

Trump said Iran was behind the hacking of his campaign, adding that the FBI is investigating the matter \"very professionally.\"

\"I think they see a convicted felon trying to make fun of an experienced prosecutor, somebody who served as attorney general, as a U.S. senator, now as vice president,\" Kelly said. \"That's all he has.\"

The Washington Post is reporting that independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. tried to meet with Harris last week and offer his endorsement in exchange for a role in her administration.

Trumps speech Wednesday in the battleground state of North Carolina was supposed to be focused on the economy, which, as he noted from the stage, they say [is] the most important topic.

But from the beginning, the event in Asheville more closely resembled any other Trump campaign rally.

A big announcement widely expected to come on Thursday should tell us a lot about one of the Biden administrations most important policy achievements: a reform with the potential to touch the lives of millions of seniors, alter the pharmaceutical market and, just maybe, affect the November elections as well.

In a particularly vile attack on immigrants, Trump claimed that they were raping our women.

Its beyond control, Trump said at his rally. We have a new category of crime: Its called migrant crime, and I think its going to be the worst category of all.

Trump, who has dubbed it the Kamala migrant invasion riled up his crowd by calling immigrants rapists.

Theyre tough, theyre mean, theyre angry and they shouldnt be in our country, Trump said. The migrants that Harris let in are raping our women and hurting our country.

Trump defended fracking, attacked windmills and said he didnt understand what Harris means when she talks about net-zero carbon emissions.

In July, Harris gave remarks on combating climate change.

And so, we set an ambitious goal to cut our greenhouse gas emissions in half by 2030 and to reach net-zero emissions by 2050.

The phrase net-zero has apparently confused Trump.

Its net-zero, Trump mocked. Nobody knows what that means, ask her what it means.

Were going to have a net-zero policy, Trump added. What does that mean? I have no idea.

The crowd cheered.

Trump took the opportunity to brag about his two-hour interview with Elon Musk on Monday, describing it as one of the most successful shows ever done.

A lot of people like [Musk], I think they like me too, come to think of it. But he's great and he gave us his full endorsement, he said.

What he wants to do is see our country be great again and he understands. He really cares about our country and he knows the opposing party has destroyed our country and will destroy our country.

The interview with Musk featured several bizarre moments of lies, fear-mongering, and exaggerations.

Trump said Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz failed in dealing with protests in his state after the 2020 police killing of George Floyd, despite previously praising Walz for just that.

He had the whole city burning down behind him, Trump said.

But thats not what Trump said at the time. In a phone call with Walz and other governors in 2020, Trump called Walzs response to the protests incredible.

What they did in Minneapolis was incredible, Trump said. They went in and dominated, and it happened immediately.

During his rally, Trump also baselessly claimed Walz would usher in World War III.

It looked like WWII, Trump said of the protests in Minneapolis. Speaking of, Ill keep you out of World War III. Hes gonna put you in.

Youre very close to being in a big war, Trump added. Weve never been this close.

As Trump continued to use his rally to air his grievances, he focused on one of his biggest attacks against Harris: Her laugh.

What happened to her laugh? I havent heard her laugh in about a week, Trump said. Thats the laugh of a crazy person. I will tell you, if you havent noticed, shes crazy.

Trump then floated a conspiracy that Harris campaign has told her to stop laughing.

They told her dont laugh, dont laugh, he said. Her laugh is career-threatening. She doesnt laugh anymore. Its smart, but someday its gonna come out. Thats the laugh of someone with big problems.

Trump may want to focus on his own running mate, who was recently unable to answer the question What makes you smile?

So were doing this as an intellectual speech youre all intellectuals right now, Trump said as he launched into the economic portion of his remarks in Asheville.

He added of the economy: They say its the most important subject.\"

We will rapidly drive prices down and make America affordable again, Trump told the crowd. The Harris price hikes have cost the typical household $28,000. Congratulations. Hope everyones happy. (It was not immediately clear where the figure came from.)

He did not provide specific details on policy aims.

While whining about Vice President Kamala Harris ongoing success in her campaign, Trump also appeared jealous of her recent cover in Time magazine.

She went from being a totally disrespected person six weeks ago, nobody thought she had a chance, Trump said during his rally. And now theyre putting her on the cover of Time magazine with an artists sketch. They dont use a picture, they use an artists sketch.

I want to find that artist, Trump added. I like him very much.

The former president appeared onstage at an Asheville, North Carolina, campaign event where he is expected to talk about economic policy. That is, if he can stay on-message.

North Carolina's lieutenant governor, Mark Robinson, a big supporter of Trump, gave a set of remarks shortly before Trump took the stage.

Democrats are feeling significantly more enthusiastic about the presidential election ever since Harris entered the race, with enthusiasm jumping from 46% in June to 85%, according to the findings of a new poll released Wednesday.

The latest Monmouth University poll of 801 registered voters found voter enthusiasm among all groups rising from 48% to 68% since Biden dropped out. Democrats were the biggest contributors to this, followed by independents, whose enthusiasm has risen from 34% to 54%. Republicans enthusiasm has stayed the same at 71%.

Overall, Harris was found to have higher favorability ratings than either Trump or Biden. She was also largely viewed as having more stamina than Trump for the role of president, the poll taken over five days this month found.

The Republican nominee will hold his latest press conference at his New Jersey golf course on Thursday.

The Trump campaign announced the media event will take place at his venue in Bedminster at 4:30 p.m. ET.

Last Friday, Trump rambled for around an hour as he took questions from the press at his Mar-a-Lago estate in Florida, and blasted Harris for not holding a similar news conference since she kicked off her campaign.

Harris has pledged to conduct a full interview by the end of this month.

New York Supreme Court Judge Juan Merchan denied for the third time a request by Trump to recuse himself from overseeing the criminal hush money case against the former president.

Trump aired one of his more bizarre grievances during an interview with Spanish-language network Univision Tuesday night.

During a now-familiar refrain on immigration, the Republican nominee paused while making a point about the border crisis being caused because of Harris.

Kamala, you know, Harris, he clarified. Nobody knows her last name. It's Harris now. Everyone thinks of her as Kamala. So it's Kamala Harris, but it's because of her and Biden.

Exactly what Trump's railing at is unclear. But the enthusiasm that has greeted the Harris campaign has led some supporters to use a mononym, a device typically reserved for celebrities such as Madonna, and he probably doesn't like that.

Second gentleman Doug Emhoff warned Trump would nominate people like Aileen Cannon, the Florida judge who threw out his classified documents case, to serve on the Supreme Court and do his \"bidding\" if he wins reelection.

If somehow they win, they can actually appoint two or three more justices, Emhoff said during a fundraising event in Los Angeles last night. And theyre going to be, like, in the Aileen Cannon, they dont follow any precedent, theyre just going to do Trumps bidding type. And theyre going to be young, and theyre going to be on that bench for 30 or 40 years.

The Harris-Walz campaign announced it is making a $90 million paid media buy for the remainder of August in an effort to target voters in key battleground states.

In a press release issued this morning, the campaign said this will help them reach voters in critical markets, like Marquette, Alpena and Toledo, where they said Trumps team has been ceding the airwaves.

It is precisely through efforts like this that we will break through a crowded media environment early and make clear the choice and stakes of this election for the voters who will decide it, Quentin Fulks, the campaigns principal deputy manager, said in a statement.

Former President Donald Trump on Tuesday released what he described as a perfect recording of his live chat with Elon Musk on X, formerly Twitter, in an apparent effort to address comments about him sounding like he was slurring words during the two-hour event.

Trump is trailing or tied with Harris in all battleground states except for Nevada, where the former president is ahead by five percentage points, according to a new Cook Political Report Swing State Project Survey conducted by BSG and GS Strategy Group.

The poll shows Harris leading Trump by four percentage points overall, as she has managed to narrow the gap with the GOP presidential nominee following Joe Bidens withdrawal from the race.

Walz was last week accused of stolen valor by his vice-presidential rival JD Vance, kickstarting a round of politically-charged attempts to smear the Minnesota governor's 24-year career in the National Guard.

At an event in Los Angeles on Tuesday, Walz opted against the more personal accusations favored by Vance, who is himself a Marine Corps veteran.

According to a campaign official cited by the newswire, Harris will give details of a plan to lower costs for middle-class families and take on corporate price-gouging at an event in Raleigh, North Carolina.

A hacker was able to access internal documents from the Trump campaign and apparently sent them to Politico, the outlet reported Saturday, citing confirmation from the Trump campaign that it had indeed been hacked. Two unnamed sources affirmed that the documents were authentic, Politico reported.

Politico said it began receiving emails from an anonymous account used by a person calling themselves Robert on July 22. One item was a research dossier on Vance that reportedly consisted of publicly available information on past public comments that could make him vulnerable to attacks. Robert told Politico that he had access to a variety of documents from [Trumps] legal and court documents to internal campaign discussions.

The outlet declined to report in detail on the contents of the materials. It is not known who was behind the hack, although reports have indicated in recent weeks that the intelligence community believes Iran is trying to undermine Trumps candidacy.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan agreed on Friday to push back proceedings in Trumps criminal election interference case upon request from special counsel Jack Smith.

Smiths office said Thursday that it needed more time to compile a proposed timeline for the case after the U.S. Supreme Courts ruling on presidential immunity threw a wrench in it. Chutkan had ordered both parties to submit a joint status report by Friday and to hold a status conference the morning of Aug. 16. Those dates have now been moved to Aug. 30 and Sept. 5, respectively.

Vance is trying to score political points by misrepresenting Walzs decision to retire from the Army National Guard after 24 years of service as stolen valor, and its not sitting well with Scott Kelly.

The former U.S. Navy captain and NASA astronaut (and twin brother of Arizona Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly) directly addressed the laughable new GOP attack in a social media post Wednesday night, and scolded Vance for disrespecting his fellow veterans.

You know what really bothers me JD Vance, is when you attack a fellow veterans military service, he wrote. I respect your service and the service of Gov. Tim Walz and all those honorably discharged.

Kelly then went through Vances claims point by point, explaining how Walz retiring before his unit even received warning orders to deploy is not at all a form of stolen valor.

He was eligible for retirement after 24 years and submitted his retirement paperwork before his unit received orders (or even warning orders) to deploy and then he continued his service as a member of congress, Kelly wrote.

The co-founders of the pro-Palestinian Uncommitted voter bloc said that they were able to briefly speak with Harris and Walz during the campaigns rally in Detroit on Wednesday, voicing their concerns about the continued supplying of weapons to Israel by the Biden administration for the countrys ongoing military offensive and occupation against Palestinians.

Harris shared her sympathies and expressed openness to a formal meeting with Uncommitted leaders Layla Elabed and Abbas Alawieh. Elabed also thanked Walz for supporting Minnesotas voters who cast their ballots earlier this year for uncommitted during the Democratic primary.

Im Palestinian, Im a founder of Uncommitted. Michigan voters want to support you, but we need a policy that will save lives in Gaza right now, Elabed, who broke down in tears, told the vice president. I meet with community members every day in Michigan who are losing tens and hundreds of family members in Gaza. Right now, we need an arms embargo.

Elabed and Alawieh have repeatedly said that they are willing to mobilize uncommitted voters behind the vice president, but only if she is willing to make a U.S. arms embargo to Israel and a permanent cease-fire in the region part of her policy platform.

Alawieh, one of Uncommitteds 30 DNC delegates, told Harris that the voters he represents need to see you turn a new page on Gaza policy.

The interaction was noteworthy given Harris reaction to pro-Palestinian protesters who interrupted her rally speech, which took place in a state that has one of the countrys largest Arab American populations. The presidential candidate accused the protesters of wanting Trump to win the election.

Pete Buttigieg defended Walz over criticism by Vance related to his military record, explaining the motivation behind such attacks on the Minnesota Democrat.

Tim Walz served honorably and well, Buttigieg wrote on Threads. Again, this is strategic: team Trump needs us tied up in debates over pre-retirement conditional rank promotions because they are desperate NOT to discuss their (unpopular) policies, like tax cuts for the rich and banning access to abortion.

Stephanie Grisham, a former Trump White House press secretary, sought to explain the former presidents decision to hold a last-minute press conference in Mar-a-Lago this afternoon.

Hes panicking, Grisham wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Ive seen this play many times. He thinks his team is failing him & no one can speak better/save his campaign/defend him but him. He hates the coverage Harris is getting & thinks only he can fix it.

Trump, who is known to be fixated on crowd sizes, accused Harris of paying people to attend her campaign rallies.

If Kamala has 1,000 people at a Rally, the Press goes crazy, and talks about how big it was - And she pays for her Crowd, Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.

When I have a Rally, and 100,000 people show up, the Fake News doesnt talk about it, THEY REFUSE TO MENTION CROWD SIZE,\" the former president wrote.

In a new interview published today, Speaker Emerita Nancy Pelosi was asked to share more details behind her appearance on MSNBCs Morning Joe on July 10, which many say played an important role in Bidens eventual decision to withdraw his candidacy.

Its up to the president to decide if he is going to run. We are all encouraging him to make that decision, because time is running short, she said at the time, seeming to overlook Bidens determination to stay in the race.

Asked to explain her language during that interview, Pelosi told David Remnick of The New Yorker shes never been that impressed with [Bidens] political operation.

They won the White House. Bravo. But my concern was: this aint happening, and we have to make a decision for this to happen, she added.

MSNBC's Jen Psaki identified the \"root problem\" for Vance during an appearance on \"Morning Joe\" this morning.

\"The American public can sniff inauthenticity,\" Psaki said. \"He's not authentic.\"

\"He doesn't like Trump. He's not presenting himself as who he was for many decades before he had this kind of about face in order to try to connect with the MAGA world,\" she added.

In an interview with Semafor yesterday, Vance downplayed the idea that Walz's \"Midwestern dad\" energy could help attract voters that have previously backed Trump.

\"I think that suggests that people are more motivated by style than substance, and if you look at why most Rust Belt voters gravitated toward Donald Trump, it was over things like immigration, about tariffs, about protecting American manufacturing jobs. Walz is atrocious on all of those issues,\" Vance said.

Vance also claimed Walz's \"total world view\" is harming American families, while conceding the Minnesota Democrat is not \"wrong on 100% of issues,\" when asked about Walz's record in office, including signing a bill providing free meals in schools in his state.

\"I dont buy the idea that hes pro-family,\" Vance said. \"Im sure hes not wrong about everything.\"

Rep. Debbie Dingell (D-Mich.), who joined Harris and Walz in their Detroit rally last night, said she's feeling \"very optimistic\" about Democrats' chances in her state come November.

\"We are a purple state, though, and we have a lot of work to do,\" Dingell told \"CNN This Morning.\"

Dingell added that she shares Biden's concern that Trump could undermine the peaceful transfer of power if he loses or if the numbers are close.

\"Will the election results be accepted? You won't have that problem on the Democratic side,\" she said.

Hotel rooms, events and venues in Chicago for the Democratic National Convention in less than two weeks have been bombarded by renewed interest since Harris became top of the ticket, NBC News reports.

Before it was going to be a wake; now its going to be Mardi Gras, said a consultant helping to organize events for the convention.

Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform Thursday morning that Harris \"refuses to do interviews because her team realizes she is unable to answer questions, much like Biden was not able to answer questions, but for different reasons.\" He listed a familiar litany of attacks on Harris.

He then wrote that he was having a \"general news conference\" at his Mar-a-Lago property today at 2 p.m.

The former president also referred to \"the Debate.\" He had previously backed out of a debate with Harris but appears to have changed his mind.

The Cook Political Report, a nonpartisan newsletter that analyzes the political landscape, today moved three states from \"Lean Republican\" to \"Toss Up.\"

Arizona, Georgia and Nevada have been moved back in the Harris-Walz direction after being classified as \"Lean Republican\" last month.

Democrats will likely seize upon this and the Marquette University Law School Survey results as signs that the Harris-Walz campaign is building momentum.

Harris leads Trump by six percentage points among likely voters, a new Marquette Law School Poll national survey released yesterday shows.

A similar survey in May, when Biden was still in the race, found Trump leading Biden 51% to 49% among likely voters.

The survey polled 683 likely voters nationwide in the last week of July.

Trump flew on a private jet with the president of the Heritage Foundation, the far-right think tank behind Project 2025, on his way to a conference the institute held in 2022, according to a Washington Post report.

This seems to further undercut Trumps claims that he has no idea who was responsible for the controversial conservative blueprint even though more than a hundred people who worked in his administration had a hand in producing it.

Walz, a former high school teacher, football coach and military veteran, has upheld values of personal freedom as a core tenet during his two stints as governor, signing laws to protect access to gender-affirming care and abortion, to ban conversion therapy and to block libraries from banning books that include LGBTQ+ characters.

Harris responded to her campaign rally audience in Wisconsin chanting \"Lock him up,\" a reference to Trump supporters' cries of, \"Lock her up\" about Hillary Clinton in 2016.

Well, hold on, hold on, hold on, Harris said.

You know what? Here, hold on. Heres the thing, the courts are going to handle that part of it. Were going to beat him in November, she said, to cheers.

In an interview with MSNBC's Jos Daz-Balart, former Rep. Beto O'Rourke (D-Texas) spoke about Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, the Democratic vice presidential nominee who he served with in Congress during his time in the lower chamber.

\"I love Tim Walz,\" O'Rourke said. \"He's just one of the best people I've ever had the pleasure to know. And in a business, politics, that is almost inherently transactional, he's the real deal.\"

O'Rourke expressed confidence that Harris and Walz will take action to address the issue of immigration if they win in November.

\"Kamala Harris and Tim Walz are real leaders,\" he said. \"They understand that the buck stops with them.\"

\"I believe they will use all the political capital they have in those first 100 days in their administration to fix a challenge that has bedeviled the United States of America now for decades, namely to make sure that our immigration laws match our values, match the reality on the ground,\" he added.

In his first interview since dropping out of the presidential race last month, President Joe Biden was asked if he was confident that a peaceful transfer of power would take place in January 2025.

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) told MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell the GOP \"has been hijacked,\" adding that some Republicans have privately told her they hope Trump loses in November.

\"They have told me, some of the Republicans, 'You have to beat them in the general because we cant beat them in the primary,'\" she said.

\"And then we will come back to our debate on the issues, what is the role of government since the beginning of our country? Just the competition of ideas and the excitement of it all,\" Pelosi added.

Walz expressed his pride to be on the Democratic ticket with Harris after his first day on the campaign trail.

It's been a pretty interesting 24 hours, the governor wrote on X. I cant even explain the feeling of walking into that arena in Philly yesterday, or that field out in Wisconsin earlier today, or our campaigns largest rally tonight in Michigan.

I couldn't be prouder to be on this ticket and to help make Kamala Harris the next President of the United States.

Pro-Palestinian demonstrators interrupted Harris campaign rally in Detroit on Wednesday, according to NBC News.

Kamala, Kamala you cant hide; youre supporting genocide! they shouted as she was speaking.

Harris responded: You know what? If you want Donald Trump to win, then say that. Otherwise, Im speaking.\"

Her swift comment was met with cheering and applause from an audience that eventually broke out into chants of \"We're not going back.\"

Hope Walz, Tim Walzs 23-year-old daughter, got coy when someone asked if she'd told her dad about the fake couch anecdote plaguing the Trump-Vance campaign.

In a video posted to TikTok, Hope Walz playfully mimed zipping her lips and said, \"Lips are sealed.\"

On July 15, an X user suggested falsely that Vance admitted to having sex with a couch in his book Hillbilly Elegy. The social media post even included a fake citation. That story does not exist in the book, but the rumor took off, and Walz even gave a nod to it in his introduction speech Tuesday, telling the crowd, I gotta tell you, I cant wait to debate the guy. That is, if hes willing to get off the couch and show up. See what I did there?

Harris campaign social media account also seemingly hinted at the rumor in a post, writing, JD Vance does not couch his hatred for women.

Steve Martin has declined an offer to play Walz on Saturday Night Live, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Lorne Michaels, producer of SNL which kicks off its 50th season Sept. 28 called Martin on Wednesday morning to offer him the role.

I wanted to say no and, by the way, he wanted me to say no, Martin told the LA Times. I said, Lorne, Im not an impressionist. You need someone who can really nail the guy. I was picked because I have gray hair and glasses.

Martin said impersonating Walz would be ongoing and not something he wanted to commit to.

Its not like you do it once and get applause and never do it again, Martin said. Again, they need a real impressionist to do that. Theyre gonna find somebody really, really good. Id be struggling.

Last week, Deadline reported that SNL alum Maya Rudolph will play Harris on SNL, a role she has won an Emmy for.

In a 2020 recording of phone call between President Donald Trump and a group of governors, Trump can be heard lavishing praise on Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz for his handling of the George Floyd protests that engulfed the city that summer.

\"I know Gov. Walz is on the phone, and we spoke, and I fully agree with the way he handled it the last couple of days,\" Trump says in the call.

\"I was very happy with the last couple of days, Tim,\" he adds. \"You called up big numbers and the big numbers knocked them out so fast it was like bowling pins.\"

Later in the call Trump praises Walz as an excellent guy.

The audio completely undercuts Trumps more recent criticism of Walzs handling of the protests, which he has done regularly since Harris named Walz as her running mate.

Walz paid a visit to Harris campaign headquarters in Delaware on Wednesday morning, and got a heros welcome from a number of her staff outside.

Video posted on social media by Walz, and some of Harris staff, shows the newly minted running mate enthusiastically shaking hands amid cheers of lets go coach.

The Harris and Trump campaigns have postponed several upcoming events in the South due to severe weather expected from Tropical Storm Debby.

Both teams separate visits to Raleigh, North Carolina, on Thursday have been postponed. Harris was scheduled to appear with Walz, while Vance has been traveling solo this week.

Harris team is also postponing her visit to Savannah, Georgia, on Friday due to the storms aftermath in the area. She has stops planned in Phoenix, Arizona, on Friday, and Las Vegas on Saturday.

Walz abruptly halted his speech in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, after seeing someone in the crowd needing medical attention.

The governor paused the event for several minutes while directing help to the person, who he said needed water amid the heat. As the person was tended to, he appeared to go off script to use the moment to encourage kindness towards others.

While they were both on a Wisconsin tarmac, Vance told reporters he wanted to get a good look at Harriss plane, Air Force Two, because hopefully its going to be my plane in a few months.

He also told reporters they might get lonely because Harris hasnt answered reporters questions in 17 days.

Have they given you guys an explanation for why she wont take questions from reporters? Vance asked reporters.

He continued: Id love her to just answer what she wants to do and also explain why every single position she has has changed. She pretends to be a tough-on-crime prosecutor and yet here she is wanting to defund the police. Shes the border czar, yet shes opened up the American southern border.

Vance has changed some of his own opinions during his political career, including that of his running mate, having once compared Trump to Hitler.

During a campaign stop in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, Vance said hed debate Vice President Kamala Harris next week, but not her running mate Tim Walz.

Vance reportedly said we dont know who the vice presidential nominee is going to be and that Democrats might pull a bait and switch on Walz.

Trumps running mate may have been taking a shot at President Joe Biden stepping down from the campaign and handing the reins over to Harris. But both Harris and Walz have already been certified by the DNC.

Trump, who has tried to back out of debating Harris, cooked up his own fanfiction scenario in which Biden will try to take back the nomination at the DNC this month.

What are the chances that Crooked Joe Biden CRASHES the Democrat National Convention and tries to take back the Nomination, beginning with challenging me to another DEBATE, he wrote on his social media website Truth Social.

A recent survey of 877 registered voters in Wisconsin found Trump and Harris locked in a dead heat, and Trump likely having lost supporters after Biden dropped out.

Harris received 49 percent of support among those surveyed, while Trump got 50 percent, according to the results of the Marquette Law School poll published Wednesday.

However, Harris slightly edged out Trump among the survey's likely voters people deemed most likely to actually vote in November with Harris receiving 50 percent and Trump 49.

The survey also found larger support for Trump if Biden had stayed in the race. Asked who they would have voted for before he dropped out last month, 42 percent said Biden and 47 percent said Trump. Ten percent of those remaining voters said they didnt know.

Wisconsin is considered a swing state in this coming election, with it having voted for Trump in 2016 and then Biden in 2020.

The Harris presidential campaign says it has raised $36 million in less than 24 hours since Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz was chosen as her running mate.

It's the latest sign of renewed enthusiasm in the Democrat offer, coming after the campaign said it brought in $310 million in July more than double the amount accrued by Donald Trump last month.

The vice president's election coffers were boosted by donations of more than $200 million in the week after she replaced President Joe Biden at the top of the ticket.

Biden sat for an interview with CBS News' Robert Costa, the White House said Wednesday. The interview will air on \"CBS Sunday Morning\" on Aug. 11.

Joe Scarborough: Voter 'Exhaustion' Is A Major Issue For Trump

Joe Scarborough, a co-host of MSNBC's "Morning Joe," said Trump's biggest challenge is the "exhaustion" from voters who backed him in the two previous presidential elections but have since soured on him over his role in the Jan. 6, 2021, insurrection, among other things.

"So now, it seems you have exhaustion on that side versus energy and joy" over Harris' campaign, Scarborough said .

Scarborough added that a new ABC News-Washington Post-Ipsos poll showing the vice president ahead in a head-to-head matchup with Trump indicates the Democrats' strategy "really seems to be working."
