Elon Musk's Mom Hit With Blunt Community Note On X After Encouraging Voter Fraud

Maye Musk, mother of billionaire X owner Elon Musk, was fact-checked on her sons social media platform after she encouraged Americans to vote fraudulently.

The Democrats have given us another option. You dont have to register to vote. On Election Day, have 10 fake names, go to 10 polling booths and vote 10 times. Thats 100 votes, and its not illegal. Maybe we should work the system too, she wrote Saturday on X, the site formerly known as Twitter.

She was sharing a tweet from her son encouraging people to register to vote.

X users added context to her post with a community note that read, This is, in fact, illegal. It included a link to the federal code prohibiting voting more than once and falsifying information when voting. Both are punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 and imprisonment of up to five years.

Donald Trump , too, once encouraged people to vote multiple times , in an act that would constitute the type of voter fraud he persistently harps on about. In September 2020, he urged followers to vote twice, once by mail and once in person, to test the system.

The Republican nominee has used a similar playbook ahead of the 2024 election, laying the groundwork to cry foul about election integrity should he lose in November.

Maye Musk, a model and dietitian with 1.1 million followers on X, routinely shares pro-Trump content and conspiratorial claims. She issued her controversial call to action on the same day her son appeared onstage with the former president at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Elon Musk has endorsed Trump.

In Butler, Pennsylvania, we just heard that the Republicans will make sure no illegals vote. Ignore my previous post, she later posted, sharing her original tweet.

Voting by noncitizens is rare, however. Republicans have cast it as a major issue this election, claiming without evidence that Democrats are enlisting undocumented people to vote for them.
