Vice President Kamala Harris campaign raised $361 million in August, nearly triple what former President Donald Trump brought in and the most a presidential campaign has ever raised in a single month.

The campaign said it has $404 million in cash on hand, a total spread across the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee and other joint fundraising committees.

Trumps campaign announced Wednesday it raised $130 million in August and had $295 million cash on hand.

Harris fundraising reestablishes Democrats financial lead in the presidential race, which had shrunken significantly after Trump won the GOP nomination allowing him to accept significantly larger donations than he had been able to during the primary and after President Joe Biden s infamously poor June debate performance, which led Democratic donors large and small to put away their checkbooks.

In just a short time, Vice President Harris candidacy has galvanized a history-making, broad, and diverse coalition with the type of enthusiasm, energy, and grit that wins close elections, Harris campaign manager Julie Chavez Rodriguez said. As we enter the final stretch of this election, were making sure every hard-earned dollar goes to winning over the voters who will decide this election.

The presidential money race is not entirely determined by candidate fundraising, with both sides also receiving hundreds of millions of dollars in support from super PACs. However, federal law requires television stations to sell ad time to candidates at the lowest rate possible, handing the candidate who raises the most cash a distinct advantage.

Trumps August fundraising marked a slight dip from July, when he banked $139 million, with help from the Republican National Convention.
