At her Michigan rally on Friday, Harris repeated her surprise that Project 2025, an extreme, far-right manual for a possible second Trump term, was put in writing at all.

And now Donald Trump is making the same empty promises to the people of Michigan that he did before, hoping that you will forget how he let you down the last time, Harris said. But we will not be fooled, because we know how to read Project 2025.

The conservative playbook, put together by more than 100 people from Trumps previous administration and nearly 1,000 pages long, has proposals including limiting abortion drug mifepristone and removing thousands of public servants to replace with Trump loyalists.

I just have to keep repeating: I cant believe they put that thing in writing, Harris said. They bound it, they published it and they handed it out, and now theyre trying to run from it? Come on. And so weve read it, its a detailed and dangerous blueprint for what Donald Trump intends to do if he were elected president.

At a rally in Grand Rapids, Michigan on Friday, Harris slammed Trump over his recent cancellations of interviews.

And check this out, his own campaign team recently said it is because of exhaustion, Harris said.

In recent weeks, Trump has pulled out of interviews with mainstream outlets including 60 Minutes, CNBC and NBC News. And on Thursday, the National Rifle Association said they were canceling an event with Trump because of \"campaign scheduling changes.\"

On Friday, Politico reported that Trump backed out of an interview with the website The Shade Room, and that an advisor for the former president told Shade Room producers that Trump was exhausted and refusing [some] interviews, but that could change.

Well, if you are exhausted on the campaign trail, it raises real questions about whether you are fit for the toughest job in the world, Harris said to cheers. Come on. Come on.

The famously pet-adverse former president admitted to loving one specific animal during an interview Friday on \"Fox & Friends.\"

Responding to a question from an actual child about his favorite animal, Trump responded that cows are both \"cute\" and \"beautiful\" an indisputable fact.

But Trump proceeded to tell the child that Kamala Harris would get rid of cows altogether, suggesting it's part of the left's \"radical\" climate-change agenda (while cows emit burps and farts that contribute to global greenhouse gas emissions, and many countries are cutting back on livestock, Harris has not proposed a plan to eliminate cows in the U.S.)

\"I'll tell you what I love, I love cows. But if we go with Kamala you won't have any cows anymore because you're not allowed,\" Trump said.

\"I don't want to ruin this kid's day,\" he continued. \"But I love cows. I think they're so cute and so beautiful and so but according to Kamala, who's a radical left lunatic, you will not have cows anymore. So we have to vote her out. If you like cows, you have to vote her out.\"

There's been a tongue-and-cheek effort to cast Trump, who did not have a pet in the White House, as a \"defender of pets\" since he spread false and vile rumors about immigrants eating cats and dogs in Ohio.

Public records obtained by Politico show JD Vance demanded the luxury treatment during his 2017 book tour, with requests for first-class flights, private cars and speaking fees so high the University of Wisconsin-Madison broke off negotiations.

According to the outlet, the Hillbilly Elegy author wanted $40,000 to appear at the public university. While the school attempted to negotiate it down, they ultimately mothballed the effort, calling it too much to overcome.

A 2022 AP investigation found Vance was paid more than $70,000 by at least 18 universities as part of his book tour, many of which he would go on to accuse of indoctrinating students with deceit and lies as an Ohio senate candidate.

A retired member of the United Auto Workers local chapter 862 in Louisville, Kentucky, took Trump to task for claiming as he did in a Bloomberg interview this week that auto workers simply took parts out of a box. In a bizarre moment that came after his campaign spent months attempting to reach auto workers, Trump said of the job, \"We could have our child do it.\"

The retiree, who gave his name as Bill, addressed Trump as he listed the physical tolls the job took on his body in a video shared by UAW Friday on social media.I would like to challenge you to do my job, Bill said. After 28 years on the line, I have no knees. They are absolutely destroyed. I need a hip replacement. I can barely walk, let alone even think about playing golf.

Trump made some outlandish remarks about former Hollywood producer Harvey Weinstein being held accountable for decades of sexual abuse in an interview on a conservative radio show this week.

I dont know that a country can come back if it has a fake press. Theyre like the policemen, they keep people honest, right? But Democrats dont have to be honest because they will never be accused of anything, Trump said, suggesting that media is in the pocket of Democrats.Thats why Trump was surprised that Weinstein someone who worked in progressive Hollywood circles was punished for his decades of sexual abuse.I was so amazed that Harvey Weinstein got schlonged, Trump told Bongino. He got hit as hard as you can get hit because he was sort of the king of the woke, and yet he got hit.

A series of voluminous and heavily redacted records underpinning Donald Trumps criminal election subversion case hit a public court docket on Friday.

So far, much appears to be information long in the public record thanks to the work of the House Select Committee to Investigate the Jan. 6 Attack on the U.S. Capitol. Trump had fought to keep the source materials under wraps for weeks after Special Counsel Jack Smith released a sprawling brief that established evidence he intends to use at trial, and what he hopes will survive any immunity hurdles laid out by the Supreme Court earlier this year. The records out Friday shouldnt be considered the full story of what information and records federal prosecutors will use to convince a jury Trump conspired to stop the certification or intimidate voters but just a sampling.

Speaking with right-wing pundit Dan Bongino, Trump lamented how some of his supporters who stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, are being held in jails and prisons for their roles in the deadly riot. Some have been sentenced, while some are waiting for their cases to proceed.

Why are they still being held? Trump asked. He claimed his supporters really won in the Supreme Court with its decision in Fischer v. United States earlier this year, a case involving several Jan. 6 defendants that arguably had a small impact on the rioters who have been prosecuted.

Nobodys ever been treated like this. Maybe the Japanese during the Second World War, honestly, they were held, too, Trump said, in a flawed comparison. Japanese Americans were rounded up and sent to live in barebones camps despite not being charged with any crimes.

In North Carolina, 353,166 voters showed up in-person on Thursday, the first day of early voting in the state. Thats roughly 120,000 more than turned out for the first day in 2020, when some 230,000 ballots were cast by the end of the day, and more than double the 2016 turnout, when 166,000 ballots were cast on day one.

Thats despite damage from Hurricane Helene, which battered the mountainous western part of the state late last month.

State Board of Elections Executive Director Karen Brinson Bell told reporters Thursday that all but four of the states 400+ early voting sites opened as scheduled.

I know that thousands of North Carolinians lost so much in this storm. Their lives will never be the same after this tragedy, Bell said. But one thing Helene did not take from western North Carolinians is the right to vote in this important election.

After months of distancing himself from the Heritage Foundations highly controversial Project 2025, Trump once again endorsed one of its key proposals on Fridays Fox & Friends.

Trump first voiced support for school voucher programs, a cause conservatives have pushed for decades that would undermine the public school system. But then he went a step further.

Were going to take the Department of Education close it. Im going to close it, Trump said. Well have one person could be you if you decide to retire, he added, pointing to host Steve Doocy, although he did not say what that one person would do.

Trump has called for shuttering the Department of Education at various points on the campaign trail, claiming that that countrys schools were being used to indoctrinate kids against conservative beliefs.

Trump does not appear too pleased about the suggestion that he needs former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haleys help to win over GOP voters who backed her in the Republican primary, but are now reluctant to support him in the general election.

Asked if he plans to reach out to her for help in the final stretch of the campaign, Trump seemed annoyed that everybody keeps saying that, and went on to emphasize the scale of his victory against her.

I beat Nikki badly, I beat everyone else too badly, Trump told Fox and Friends.

This comes as sources told The Bulwark Haley and the Trump campaign are discussing having her make a joint appearance with the former president, possibly before a Fox News town hall moderated by Sean Hannity later this month.

Haley endorsed Trump in July despite sharply criticizing him during the GOP primary.

As his cozy Fox & Friends interview wrapped up, Trump volunteered some information about his schedule after host Lawrence Jones acknowledged he had another event to get to.

You know what the event I have now [is]? A very big event. Im going to see Rupert Murdoch, Trump said, referencing the 93-year-old conservative media scion who built Fox News.

Im going to tell him something very simple, because I cant talk to anybody else about it. Dont put on negative commercials for 21 days, dont put em. And dont put on theyre horrible people that come in live. Im going to say, Rupert, please, do it this way, Trump told the four co-hosts as one, Brian Kilmeade, grinned at the camera.

Michelle Obama is coming to the presidential campaign trail.

The author, speaker and former first lady announced Friday morning that she will be joining Vice President Kamala Harris for a rally in Detroit on Saturday, October 26.

The date is important because it will be Michigans first day of in-person voting.

Polls have shown a close race in Michigan, which is one of a handful of states likely to decide the outcome of the presidential election.

The Detroit appearance will be Obamas first campaign activity since giving a widely hailed speech at this summers Democratic National Convention.

Obama will also rally with Harris in Georgia later in the week.

Trump is speaking at the Alfred E. Smith Memorial Foundation dinner in New York City, which is traditionally attended by both presidential candidates. Trump made a crack that he was glad he was able to appear at an event without requiring a subpoena, referencing his multiple indictments and lawsuits in the state.

Anytime I dont get a subpoena Im happy, Trump said. He later turned to New York City Mayor Eric Adams, who was himself indicted on multiple counts of bribery and fraud, saying his own plight had been much worse.

Youre peanuts compared to what theyve done to me, and youre going to be okay, Trump added.

While Harris opted to send a recorded message to play at the dinner instead of attending herself, this fundraiser typically includes both presidential candidates sharing a stage and roasting one another, in a show of political unity.

Trump and President Joe Biden both attended a virtual version of the fundraising dinner in 2020. Trump and Hillary Clinton shared attended the dinner in 2016.

Fox News host Bret Baier said Thursday night he played the wrong clip during his combative interview with Harris the previous night.

Baier and Harris had a heated moment during the interview Wednesday as the vice president criticized the host for playing a video of Trump that didnt include his full comments pledging to use the American military against his domestic critics, those hes dubbed the enemy within.

I did make a mistake and I want to say the mistake, Baier said.

Harris is hitting Trump on a series of familiar themes, saying the former president has attempted to gaslight Americans. The vice president pointed to his efforts to roll back reproductive freedoms while calling himself a champion for women and his concepts of a plan for healthcare despite his efforts to undercut the Affordable Care Act.

No Donald, everybody did not want Roe v. Wade overturned, Harris said. They did not want this. And now, it just gets more unbelievable sometimes. And now this man calls himself the father of IVF? I mean what does that even mean?

When you listen to Donald Trump, it becomes increasingly clear he has no idea what hes talking about when it comes to the health care of women in America.

Harris used her early remarks to point to Trumps town hall on Univision on Wednesday. An undecided Latino voter asked the former president to win back his vote during the event, telling the Republican candidate he was troubled by the events on Jan. 6, 2021, and Trumps handling of the COVID-19 pandemic.

A voter asked him about Jan. 6, Harris said. Now we here know Jan. 6 was a tragic day for our country. It was a day of terrible violence, with attacks on law enforcement. What did Donald Trump say last night about Jan. 6? He called it a day of love. And we are all clear the American people are exhausted with his gaslighting, exhausted. Enough.

Source documents and an appendix detailing more about Trumps alleged criminal attempt to overturn the results of the 2020 election will hit the public record on Friday, according to a judges order.

The appendix is a follow-up to the immunity brief special counsel Jack Smith laid out earlier this month establishing evidence he intends to use at Trumps election subversion trial after the Supreme Court issued its decision granting presidents immunity for their official acts.

U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan approved the public release on the federal criminal docket in Washington, D.C., following weeks of Trump requesting to keep the appendix out of the public eye. His lawyers asked early Thursday to delay the release until Nov. 14 but Chutkan rejected the request. She also rebuffed his assertions that releasing the documents is election interference.

There is undoubtedly a public interest in courts not inserting themselves into elections, or appearing to do so. But litigations incidental effects on politics are not the same as the courts intentional interference with them, she wrote.

If the court withheld that information the public otherwise had a right to access because of the potential political consequences, that itself could constitute or appear to constitute election interference, she ruled.

Harris has arrived for a rally in Green Bay, Wisconsin, her third campaign stop of the day.

We are entering the home stretch and this is gonna be a tight race until the very end, she told the crowd. I am campaigning for every singe vote because I intend to be a president for all Americans.

Harris isnt pulling any punches these days, whether it be on Fox News or during her own rallies.

Add another bit of evidence to the pile indicating Trump is dead wrong about the events of Jan. 6.

In a stark reminder of the violence and danger that erupted at the U.S. Capitol that day, a criminal case was unsealed by federal prosecutors in Washington, D.C. on Thursday involving a Texas man who pleaded guilty to bringing a gun on Capitol grounds. Prosecutors say he came to town with friends and a small arsenal of other firearms as well.

Kamala Harris Wednesday night interview on Fox News drew 7.1 million viewers, 882,000 of whom were in the 25-54 demographic, according to Nielsen data obtained by Semafor media journalist Max Tani.

For comparison, Harris first joint interview with her running mate, Tim Walz, drew 6.3 million viewers on CNN.

Trumps town hall earlier in the day, also on Fox News, drew 2.9 million viewers, 338,000 of whom were in the 25-54 demo, according to Deadline.

The former president urged voters to talk to their friends and neighbors about the economic issues facing regular people, saying that he knew something about economics as a two-term president in the buoyant 1990s.

He pushed back on Trumps repeated suggestion that, had Trump been president instead of Joe Biden, the country would not be facing a cost of living crisis and inflation. Clinton pointed out that the economic crisis had been a product of the COVID-19 crisis in 2020.

Its unfair to pretend that we could have been the only country in the world that couldve escaped this inflation problem, Clinton told the crowd gathered at a North Carolina school gym.

His economic plan basically amounts to more tax cuts for the ultra wealthy. He does impose tariffs across the board, Clinton went on.

And all the surveys show that thats kind of popular, because it sounds like hes zapping foreigners, he said. Heres the problem: If you double tariffs on stuff that we dont make here, but you have to buy, all youre doing is raising the price of stuff we have to buy. Doesnt create any jobs for anybody.

Clinton told the crowd that a vote for Trump would erode the social safety net and make essential goods more expensive, joking that if any of them wanted to do that, Youve got a good choice. He listed off issues that Democrats stood for, naming affordable housing, affordable health care, support for Ukraine and peace in the Middle East that allows Palestinians a homeland.

\"Majority rule, minority rights, individual rights, the rule of law same set of rules that bind everybody those things are in grave danger,\" Clinton warned.

A group of protesters attempted to interrupt Harris as she addressed Trumps abortion ban and were handled adroitly.

Oh, you guys are at the wrong rally, she told the protesters, smiling. I think you meant to go to the smaller one down the street.

The Wisconcisn crowd erupted in cheers and laughter.

Its unclear what the group was protesting as they were both off-camera and inaudible.

Former President Bill Clinton came with jokes as he took the podium after Walz in North Carolina. He told the crowd not to worry, that he wouldnt going to spend 30 minutes swaying back and forth like Trump did at a Pennsylvania town hall earlier this week.

Nor will I pretend to be a conductor, Clinton said.

He turned more serious when he brought up Trumps recent suggestion that he will somehow turn the U.S. military on its citizens.

Hes got a Supreme Court that virtually says once you get to be president, you get to just make up the rules, Clinton said. And he keeps talking about how he wants to get even. He might have to call out the military on our own people. The danger within.

I suppose that includes me, Clinton said, invoking a scenario where Trump sticks him in a Colorado maximum security prison.

So Ive already got a petition ready. I want him to transfer me to Guantanamo, because when youre 78 youre a lot more worried about it being too cold than being too hot, Clinton said.

Harris opened her speech at the University of Wisconsin, La Crosse, with a nod to her interview last night on Fox News, saying she intends to be a president for all Americans, no matter their political party, where they live or where they get their news.

Then she drew a contrast with Donald Trump, who was asked by a Republican voter at a town hall last night about the insurrection he fomented on Jan. 6, 2021.

That was a day of love, Trump told the man, who, judging by his body language didnt agree. Nothing done wrong at all. Nothing done wrong.

Harris lambasted Trump for the farcical lie.

We here know Jan. 6 was a tragic day, she told the crowd. It was a day of terrible violence, there were attacks on law enforcement. 140 law enforcement officers were injured, some were killed, and what did Donald Trump say last night about January 6?\"

Earlier this year, Musk said he wasnt donating money to either presidential candidate. In July, he denied a Wall Street Journal report that Musk said he planned on donating around $45 million a month to a super PAC he helped create, America PAC, that has aggressively supported Trumps campaign in key states throughout the country.

On Tuesday, however, the first federal campaign finance records were published since the Journals report showing Musks seven donations to the PAC between July 3 and Sept. 5. In total, the records show Musk has given just under $75 million to the PAC.

A repeat survey of Black voters in seven battleground states has found Harris maintaining a steady lead of support over Trump, whose support has slightly dropped.

Two polls conducted by Howard University in early September and then again in early October found that more than 80% of Black respondents intend to vote for Harris in next months election. Her support slightly rose from 82% to 84% while Trumps support dropped from 12% to 8%.

The majority of the 981 voters polled identified themselves as registered to vote in Georgia, followed by North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Arizona, Wisconsin and Nevada.

In terms of favorability, Harris has maintained a largely favorable opinion among those surveyed, with her rating slightly increasing from 74% to 77%. Trumps favorability, in comparison, dropped from 13% to 10%. The total people viewing him unfavorably stayed the same at 80%.

Harris favorability also slightly bested the one registered for Biden, who secured a 71% favorability rating in the poll taken earlier this month. This was slightly higher than the 68% rating he received during the first round of polling.

Remember back with Trump used to brag about how great his generals were? At this point, it could be hard to find a single one who still supports him. Trumps former chief of staff, Gen. John Kelly, called Trump a person that has nothing but contempt for our democratic institutions, our Constitution, and the rule of law. His top military adviser, Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Mark Milley, called Trump fascist to the core, according to journalist Bob Woodwards forthcoming book, War.

Now, Woodword reveals that Trumps first defense secretary, retired Gen. James Mattis, wrote him that he fully agrees with Milleys assessment.

Remember back with Trump used to brag about how great “his” generals were? At this point, it could be hard to find a single one who still supports him. Trump’s former chief of staff, Gen. Mark Milley, called Trump “fascist to the core,” according to journalist Bob Woodward’s forthcoming book, “War.”

Now, Woodword reveals that Trump’s first defense secretary, retired Gen. James Mattis, wrote him that he fully agrees with Milley’s assessment.

Biden, who is traveling to Germany, also issued a statement around the same time also saying it was \"a good day for Israel, the United States and for the world.\" He added that he planned to speak with Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu to \"to discuss the pathway for bringing the hostages home to their families, and for ending this war once and for all, which has caused so much devastation to innocent people.\"

In a mid-day post on Truth Social, Trump argued that Harris should be investigated and forced off the campaign thereby allowing Joe Biden to take back his rightful place. Trump did not specify what, exactly, he believes Harris should be investigated for.

Trump also wrote in all-caps that CBS SHOULD LOSE ITS LICENSE, basing the claim on a private complaint two lawyers filed with the Federal Communications Commission on his behalf. The complaint alleges that a 60 Minutes interview was edited to favor the vice president. (Donald Trump canceled his interview with the program.)

The FCC licenses individual broadcast stations, not TV or radio networks, so it doesnt have the power to comply with Trumps demands. FCC chair Jessica Rosenworcel has previously warned that Trumps call to revoke CBSs broadcast license constitutes an attack on freedom of speech.

While repeated attacks against broadcast stations by the former President may now be familiar, these threats against free speech are serious and should not be ignored, Rosenworcel said in a statement. As Ive said before, the First Amendment is a cornerstone of our democracy. The FCC does not and will not revoke licenses for broadcast stations simply because a political candidate disagrees with or dislikes content or coverage.

In Reddit posts that span more than a decade, a financial policy adviser for JD Vance boasted about his personal drug abuse and called Vance a Trump boot licker, an investigation by Wired magazine found.

The magazine tied Aaron Kofsky, a staffer for the Ohio senator, to a Reddit account named PsychoticMammal.

The account had a more than 11-year history of discussing drug use, including a post advising others how to smuggle cocaine past airport security.

In others, Kofsky wrote about withdrawing from tianeptine, which the article describes as gas station heroin, and his love for cocaine: I love coke on its own, mixed with benzos, mixed with opiates (my fav tbh), and even love a line or two after smoking a few bowls. Id even say that coke is my second favorite drug behind opiates.

Kofsky confirmed to Wired through a spokesperson that the account was his, adding that hes struggled with drug use.

I deeply regret posting these comments, the statement continued. Im not proud of this and Im embarrassed its being publicized in this way, but I am thankful to say that part of my life is behind me.

The NRA announced it has canceled an event the GOP presidential nominee was due to speak at in Savannah, Georgia, next week, citing campaign scheduling changes.

The NRA is committed to ensuring Donald Trump wins in November and returns to the White House, the organization said in a statement. NRA-PVF just launched statewide radio ads in the battleground states of Pennsylvania and Georgia to complement a comprehensive GOTV operation and multi-million-dollar digital outreach strategy to defeat Kamala Harris.

The latest announcement adds to a string of cancellations by the former president in the final stretch of the campaign as the GOP nominee recently pulled out of interviews on CNBCs Squawk Box and CBS 60 Minutes. CNN also reported he scrapped a planned sit-down with NBC News, but a source told the network that interview could be rescheduled.

Peter Wehner worked in the White House under Presidents Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush, including as a top speechwriter. He came away from Harris Fox News interview with Bret Baier with the impression that Baier has rarely looked as bad (or tendentious) as he did in his interview with Kamala Harris.

On the flip side, this was one of her best interviews. She dominated Bret. All in all it was quite a bad day for MAGA world's most important media outlet, Wehner wrote on social media, commenting above a clip of Harris pushing back on a question from Baier about Trumps enemy from within comments.

In yet another bid to delay proceedings in his Jan. 6 election subversion case, Donald Trump asked a judge to stop the release of certain redacted documents that special counsel Jack Smith is expected to put on the public record Thursday.

The document in question is a four-part redacted appendix brief that is an accompaniment to the 165-page filing from Smith that laid out huge amounts of evidence prosecutors intend to use when they face off with Trump in court. The brief offered a comprehensive timeline of Trumps alleged criminal conduct in the run-up to and on Jan. 6, 2021, and importantly addressed which of Trumps acts were officialor not official under the Supreme Courts immunity decision.

The redacted appendix is expected to contain some sensitive information like details from grand jury transcripts or witness testimonies but the judge has already agreed to redact that information. How useful these redactions will really be, only time will tell. Redactions in Trumps immunity brief were easy to unmask thanks to context clues scattering the document and much of the information existing in the public record already.

Exactly a week ago, Trump moved to delay the release of the appendix, saying he needed more time to respond and assess his litigation options. Chutkan agreed, giving him until today, Oct. 17, to respond. Trumps motion Thursday seeks to delay the release of the appendix until Nov. 14.

During an appearance on Fox & Friends on Thursday morning, Vance attacked Harris over her performance in a combative interview with Fox News' Bret Baier last night, claiming she couldnt answer a direct question.

What I saw is a person who not just didnt have the skill to navigate a tough interview, but doesnt know how to explain her record, because her record is not possible to explain away to the American people, Vance told the Fox & Friends.

Trump, who congratulated Baier over his line of questioning despite previously describing the journalist as \"often very soft to those on the 'cocktail circuit' Left,\" claimed the interview showed just \"how totally incompetent Kamala is.\"

John Miller, a former NBC executive who led the team that marketed The Apprentice, the show is widely credited with making Trump a household name across the country, is reflecting on his own role in elevating the GOP nominee.

Brian Stelter reports the former president pulled out of an interview with NBC News set to be taped on Monday, citing three sources.

One of those sources told Stelter that Trumps interview was postponed and the network is still working to make it happen on a different date.

Trump has recently scrapped other scheduled interviews with CBS' \"60 Minutes\" and CNBC's \"Squawk Box,\" raising questions about his media strategy as Election Day nears.

Future Forward, the main super PAC backing Vice President Kamala Harris presidential bid, is spending more than $1 million on a new, Spanish-language radio ad, Por Prosperidad, that is sung in the style of a traditional Mexican ballad, or corrido.

The lyrics of the corrido ad highlight Harris modest upbringing as the daughter of immigrants, as well as her commitment to fighting for ordinary workers economic interests.

Symone Sanders Townsend, who previously served as a senior adviser to Harris, criticized the way Fox News' Bret Baier handled the interview with the vice president, saying his questions seemed like they were taken straight out of a \"Trump/Vance press release.\"

City officials have repeatedly debunked those falsehoods, but that hasnt stopped Trump or his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, from sharing them. The former president has pledged to deport the immigrants living in Springfield, even though most of them are in the U.S. legally.

An undecided voter asked Trump on Wednesday night how he planned to deal with a surge in migration along the southern border, but also why he directed Republican leaders in Congress to reject a bipartisan border bill that would have better funded border agents.

Trump declined to answer the question, instead turning to his fearmongering claim that cities run by Democrats were rife with crime.

Everything the Democrats run is bad, Trump said. Twenty-five cities, theyre all run by Democrats, and theyre crime-ridden and crime-infested cities. The Republicans running, we have law and order.

Trump is participating in a town-hall-style event with Latino voters on Univision with just weeks to go until the November election.

One undecided voter asked about high grocery prices and the rising cost of living, which Trump pledged to address with a cut to energy prices that will bring it all down.

Another asked how Trumps promises to unleash an aggressive, historic deportation regime if hes reelected would affect farmers who rely on undocumented workers to pick produce.

Im the best thing that ever happened to farmers. I was great, Trump said. Under my administration, farmers did very well. We have to have a lot of people come into our country. We just want them to come in legally.

He has so far relied heavily on rhetoric common on the campaign trail, including lies that murderers and other felons were being allowed into the U.S. en masse by the Biden administration. Those claims are false.

In her strongest warning to date about Trumps autocratic tendencies, Harris on Tuesday quoted his own top military advisers assessment of him as fascist to the core in a speech inviting Republicans to join her presidential campaign.

His national security adviser, two defense secretaries, his former chief of staff, his own vice president, all have warned America: Donald Trump is unfit to serve, Harris said. After Harris pointed out that Trump has referred to his opponents as the enemy within, Baier played a recent clip of Trump accusing critics of exaggerating his remarks and saying hes the one people have been casting as an enemy.

Harris wasnt having it.

Bret, Im sorry and with all due respect, that clip was not what he has been saying about the enemy within, that he has repeated when he is speaking about the American people. Thats not what you just showed, she said.

Heres the bottom line: he has repeated it many times, and you and I both know that, she continued. And you and I both know that he has talked about turning the American military on the American people. He has talked about going after people who are engaged in peaceful protest. He has talked about locking people up because they disagree with him.

The president should be able to handle criticism without saying hed lock people up for doing it, she added.

Harris said she would not work to undermine border security if elected, touting her efforts as Californias attorney general and her work in the Biden administration to rein in human trafficking and drug smuggling across the southern border with Mexico.

I do not believe in decriminalizing border crossings and I have not done that as vice president, and I will not do that as president, she said.

Baier tried to get Harris to comment on claims about Bidens mental fitness, but she refused to take the bait, instead assailing Trumps own stability.

I have watched from the Oval Office, from the Situation Room and [Biden] has the judgement and the experience to do exactly what he has done in making very important decisions on behalf of the American people, Harris said. Joe Biden is not on the ballot. I think the American people have a concern about Donald Trump.

The vice president defended her remarks that Trump was not stable as Baier questioned her about those comments, saying we should all be concerned about the former president.

During her Fox News interview, Harris was pressed by Bret Baier on how her presidency will differ from Bidens.

She pointed out that much of her career was spent outside the political bubble of Washington, D.C. and cited her plans on housing and small business initiatives.

You've been vice president for three and a half years, Baier pressed. So what are you turning the page from?

Well, first of all, turning the page from the last decade in which we have been burdened with the kind of rhetoric coming from Donald Trump that has been designed and implemented to divide our country and have Americans literally point fingers at each other, she said.

Fox News just began airing its interview with Harris, and the conversation kicked off on a combative note.

Host Bret Baier began by asking Harris how many undocumented immigrants her and Bidens administration had released into the United States. Seconds into her speaking, Baier cut her off and repeated the question.

Let me just finish, Harris replied. I'll get to the question. I promise you I was beginning to answer.

When Baier cut her off again, Harris urged him to let her speak: May I finish responding? You have to let me finish, she said.

The Harris campaign shared a video on social media Wednesday aimed at reminding voters of a chaotic episode that occurred during Trumps presidency when he allowed migrant children to be separated from their parents when they arrived at the U.S. border.

I came to the United States as a 9-year-old with my dad here, said one boy, now in his mid-teens. We thought we had a better future planned ahead of us, coming to this country, because all we heard was good things about it.

He was first held in one of the rooms called las hieleras, or ice boxes, for three days before being flown to New York, where someone in foster care that said that they were going to be my new family.

They told me that I wasnt going to be able to see my dad again you can probably imagine how that felt, he said. The pair were reunited around 40 days later. The boy said he goes to therapy.

The next speaker, a soft-spoken girl, was also kept in the cold rooms before being moved to foster care. She had arrived at age 6 with her mother, aiming to rejoin the girls father. After authorities deported her father, the girl said, she was sent to live with an aunt.

I couldnt see my mom for those whole three years, which was really sad for me because I thought I was going to see her more than that, the girl said.

\"I don't want this to happen to other kids,\" said another boy, who stood at the podium alongside his brother.

CNN anchor Brianna Keilar pushed Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) to respond to Trumps racist claims about Haitian immigrants after Mace, a staunch Trump ally, said she had no qualms about anything Trump has said on the topic. Trump added to his false claims this week when he stated the immigrants in Springfield, Ohio, are not only eating cats and dogs, but eating other things, too, that theyre not supposed to be.

Nothing that Ive seen about what he said about Ohio gives me any sort of pause. I am worried about violent rhetoric that puts me and my family in danger, Mace said.

But do you care about the other people, congresswoman? I hear what youre saying about yourself, Keilar countered. Mace responded that she cares about everybody.

Do you? Keilar asked. After Mace insisted, Keilar said she would send over some information.

During his Fox News town hall, Trump made a ratings jab at the expense of the family of Amber Thurman, the Georgia mother who died after being denied an abortion under the states ban.

After the host said Thurmans family was holding a prebuttal to the town hall event, Trump quipped: Thats nice. Well get better ratings, I promise.

On the press call Thurmans family held ahead of Trumps appearance, her mother spoke about the painful loss of her daughter, which was exposed in a ProPublica report last month.

My heart is overwhelmed with pain, she said. Some days I can't even explain it. Some days I care not to explain it. All I know is a part of me is gone.

Paul Dans, who served as director of the Heritage Foundations Project 2025 until July, told The Washington Post that the conservative groups current president, Kevin Roberts, should tone down his rhetoric. Roberts is credited as a driving force behind Project 2025, the far-right blueprint for a second Trump administration.

Roberts raised alarm bells in July when he called for a second American Revolution, which will remain bloodless if the left allows it to be. He used a similar phrasing on social media, writing that the Left may not allow a peaceful transfer of power.

Dans told the Post: Theres no place for this sort of violent rhetoric and bellicose taunting, especially in light of the fact that President Trump has now been subject to not one but two assassination attempts.

He also called on Sen. JD Vance (R-Ohio) to rescind the foreward he wrote for Roberts upcoming book, Dawns Early Light. The books release date was pushed back to after the election after Democrats seized on Trumps ties to the far-right Roberts.

The judge overseeing Donald Trumps Jan. 6 election subversion case issued an order on Wednesdaymostly denying Trumps requests for discovery materials that he says will vindicate him at trial.

While prosecutors must provide defendants with exculpatory materials, Judge Tanya Chutkan said Trump was too vague and too speculative about how certain records go toward proving his state of mind (for example: a request for classified information from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence about Russian interference in the 2016 election is irrelevant).

Chutkan agreed that prosecutors should search, however, for records from the FBI and Justice Department about an investigation into classified materials found at Mike Pences home during a consensual search in 2023. Those could be used to impeach witnesses like Pence if theres evidence that he felt pressured to speak to Smith.

Notably, the order expressed that its possible Trump could share the responsibility for the Capitol attack even if he did not give direct marching orders.

The Nebraska Supreme Court suffers no fools. In a 90-page opinion issued Wednesday, the court admonished Nebraska Secretary of State Robert Evnen (R) and Nebraska Attorney General Mike Hilgers (R) for refusing to implement a new law allowing convicted felons to regain their ability to vote, provided they have completed their sentences. Evnen had argued the new statute was unconstitutional.

The Harris/Walz campaign released a new advertisement on Wednesday afternoon featuring the mother and two sisters of a Georgia woman who died in 2022 due to the states six-week abortion ban.

Amber Thurman, a 28-year-old mother of one, died after a Georgia hospital delayed lifesaving medical care when she experienced a rare complication from a medication abortion.What happened to her was preventable. My daughter is gone because of what Donald Trump did, Shanette Williams, Thurmans mother, says in the ad.

Williams, along with Thurmans father and two sisters, CJ and Andricka, spoke at length earlier this week about what its been like since Thurman passed.

We will speak her name: Amber Nicole Thurman, Harris says in the ad, clipped from a rally she hosted in Georgia last month in response to Thurmans death.

Former President Jimmy Carter has voted for Kamala Harris, his son told The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

I think he feels good, his son, Chip Carter, told the paper, adding that his wife dropped off the ballot on his fathers behalf. It was a good morning for him and good for us that he got it done.

Chip Carter told the Journal-Constitution in August that his father, who just turned 100 and has been in hospice care for over a year, was just trying to make it to vote for Kamala Harris.

Near the end of his Fox News town hall on womens issues, the former president fielded a couple of questions about reproductive health care. He first defended his role in ending nationwide abortion access, claiming falsely that every legal scholar, or at least the good ones, said the issue should be decided on a state-by-state basis.

He also said that some states had gone too far with their abortion restrictions, claiming that lawmakers in those states were working to loosen them.

Trump then heard that the next question was about in-vitro fertilization.

Im the father of IVF, so I want to hear this question, he said.

Trump appointed hundreds of conservative judges to the federal judiciary during his presidency in a boon to the conservative movement, elements of which have tried to ban IVF treatments because they involve embryos. Some on the right believe these embryos should be legally considered children. Because IVF can result in some destroyed embryos, the process would be outlawed.

We really are the party of IVF. We want fertilization, and its all the way, Trump said.

At a campaign rally in Atlanta on Tuesday night, Trump resorted to a familiar tactic to try and win over undecided Black and Latino voters: bullying.

Any African American or Hispanic and you know how well Im doing there that votes for Kamala, you got to have your head examined, Trump told the crowd. Because they they are screwing you.

The Harris campaign jumped on the clip.

If Donald Trump thinks insulting Black and Latino voters is the key to earning their respect and their votes, its him who should have his head examined, Harris-Walz 2024 spokesperson Sarafina Chitika said in a statement.

If he believes in his message, he should stop hiding in his safe space and take his divisive rhetoric directly to Black media, Chitika continued. We hear they have plenty of unanswered questions.

The line is actually a re-tread; he said the same thing about Jewish people last month:

Any Jewish person who votes for her should have their head examined, the Republican presidential candidate said. He added that, should he lose the upcoming election, the Jewish people would have a lot do to with it.

Its unclear how demeaning your target audience and questioning their intelligence helps turn out their vote, but its nevertheless a common strategy for the Republican presidential candidate. During an appearance at the Economic Club of Chicago yesterday, Trump demeaned autoworkers and said their work was so easy a child could do it.They take them out of a box, and they assemble them. We could have our child doing it, he said.

During a women-only town hall, Fox host Harris Faulkner asked Trump to respond to a recent attack from the vice president, in which she played clips of prior Trump comments and called him increasingly unstable and unhinged.

Faulkner played a recording of the moment from Harris rally earlier this week. Trump can be heard calling his political opponents the enemy from within and claiming he could use the military to suppress dissent.

I thought it was a nice presentation, Trump said of himself afterward.

You know what they are, theyre a party of sound bites, he went on, calling his opponents Marxists, and communists and fascists.

They are the threat to democracy, Trump said to the audience of Georgia conservatives, who cheered.

Former first lady Michelle Obama, who delivered a powerful speech in support of Harris during the Democratic National Convention this summer, is scheduled to headline a rally in Georgia, a key battleground in this election, to encourage first-time voters to head to the polls.

The event, which will take place in Atlanta on Oct. 29, is organized by When We All Vote, a nonpartisan initiative founded by Obama in 2018 with the aim of increasing turnout in U.S. elections.

Together, we will mobilize first-time voters and uplift our Georgia partners and volunteers who work year-round to make sure their communities are registered and ready to vote, the organization wrote in a post on Facebook advertising the event.

Miriam Adelson, the widow of casino magnate Sheldon Adelson, has donated $100 million to a pro-Trump super PAC, according to Federal Election Commission records filed Tuesday.

Adelson donated $25 million to Preserve America in July, another $25 million in August and made donations of $25 million and $20 million a week apart in September. She previously donated $5 million to the group.

Preserve America has used the money to air ads attacking Vice President Kamala Harris. Adelson is by far the groups largest donor.

Sheldon Adelson, a staunch advocate for Israel and long the single biggest donor in Republican politics, died in 2021. Miriam has since continued his track record of major donations to the GOP.

Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger said the state could break records as Georgians kicked off early voting Tuesday.

It looks like this is going to be a record-breaking first day of early voting, Raffensperger said at a mid-morning press conference.

More than 71,000 Georgians had already cast their ballots by 10:30 a.m. today, the secretary of states office said. Thats more than half the total for the first day of early voting in 2020, when 136,000 people voted.

Raffensperger, a Republican, was re-elected in 2022 after defying an order from Trump in 2020 to find 11,780 votes and overturn his loss in the state.

During an appearance at the Economic Club of Chicago, Trump said I've been talking about for the last year about Detroit and how horribly it has been -- you know, it's just horrible, because we've been talking about Detroit's coming back for 40 years, and it's never come back.

A few minutes later, while discussing what he says are misconceptions about China, Trump said we're a developing nation too. Take a look at Detroit, take a look at our cities. We're a developing nation. We have to develop more than they do.

The comments came one week after Trump, during an appearance before the Detroit Economic Club, warned that electing Harris would mean the whole country will be like you want to know the truth? Itll be like Detroit. Our whole country will end up being like Detroit if shes your president.

Last week's comments drew rebukes from a chorus of local leaders, including everybody from Democratic Mayor Mike Duggan to finance mogul Dan Gilbert, most of whom cited evidence of the citys resurgence.

And it took only a day for the Harris campaign to roll out a video ad highlighting Trumps comments, which it juxtaposed with images of Detroit workers and narration by actor (and Detroit native) Courtney Vance.

Michigan is among a handful of closely contested states whose electoral votes could decide the presidential election. Trump plans to hold a rally in Detroit on Friday.

A judge in Fulton County, Georgia spelled it out for election officials in the contentious swing state with an order issued Monday finding that election board officials cannot play investigator, prosecutor, jury and judge by refusing to certify election results based on their suspicions of fraud.

The ruling stems from a lawsuit filed by pro-Trump election official Julie Adams and is a major blow to Trump-fueled efforts in Georgia to challenge or block election results frivolously.

Walz is headed to a family farm in Lawrence County, Pennsylvania, on Tuesday afternoon to discuss the Harris campaigns plans for rural America.

Walz, who grew up in a small town in Nebraska and represented a rural southern Minnesota seat in the House, is slated to ding the Trump campaign, according to an excerpt of his prepared remarks provided by the Harris campaign.

Now, recently, theres been a lot of talk of outsiders coming into rural communities, stealing jobs away, and making life worse for the people living there, he plans to say. Those outsiders names are Donald Trump and JD Vance.

Walz also has narrated a new radio ad that will air on rural radio stations across battleground states.

Walzs visit and radio ad are part of the Harris campaigns broader push to reach rural voters. The campaign unveiled a new plan for rural communities on Tuesday that both reframes existing proposals to underscore their rural impact, such as the $6,000 child tax credit for parents of newborns and providing new assistance for first-time homebuyers and small-business startups, and adds new promises to increase the number of health care professionals in rural America and boost credit and market access for small farmers.

“I had a Town Hall in Pennsylvania last night. It was amazing! The Q and A was almost finished when people began fainting from the excitement and heat,” Trump wrote. “We started playing music while we waited, and just kept it going. So different, but it ended up being a GREAT EVENING!”

For about 40 minutes, Trump stood onstage and swayed to music, with selections ranging from opera to Rufus Wainwright’s “Hallelujah” cover to Sinead O’Connor’s “Nothing Compares 2 U.” At times, he directed staff to turn up the music. At one point, he seemed ready to take more questions, but then asked for “YMCA” to play.

Early in-person voting starts today in Georgia, a key battleground in the presidential race.

Trump is scheduled to deliver remarks in Atlanta this evening, while second gentleman Doug Emhoff will make a campaign stop in Savannah to encourage Georgians to support Harris.

Voters will head to the polls without getting an up-or-down jury verdict in two of the most serious cases facing the former president, The Associated Press writes.

Vice President Kamala Harris, the Democratic Partys nominee for president, may make an appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience, an ultra-popular but right-leaning podcast hosted by the stand-up comedian, Reuters reported on Monday night.

Harris has gone on a media blitz in recent weeks, and her campaign has increasingly ventured into purportedly unfriendly political territory. Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, her running mate, has appeared on Fox News Sunday two weekends in a row and Harris is set to record an interview with Fox News anchor Bret Baier on Wednesday.

Representatives for Harris and Rogan met this week, two sources told Reuters. Rogans podcast is the most popular in the United States, and its audience skews male and young.

While Rogan has occasionally been complimentary of Trump and was especially skeptical of President Joe Biden, hes also hosted progressive Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) Rogan said in 2022 he was not a Trump supporter. When Rogan implied he would support the candidacy of Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. who has since dropped out of the race and endorsed Trump it sparked a war of words between Rogan and leading MAGA figures.

It also appears Trump may soon make an appearance on Rogans podcast. I think Im doing it, he said when asked about appearing on Rogan on the podcast Full Send on Monday. Trump has never previously appeared on the show.

Fetterman also called out Vance for his criticism of Harris recent stop at a Sheetz, the convenience store beloved by many Pennsylvanians.

Harris and Trump are both holding campaign events in Pennsylvania, a key battleground state.

Texas Sen. Ted Cruz claimed Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnells super PAC has spent nothing to help him in whats looking like a close race between Cruz and Democrat Colin Allred.

Not a penny. So Mitch McConnell runs the largest Republican super PAC in the county, it has $400 million. But that super PAC is used to reward the Republican senators who obey him and to punish those who dare to stand up to him, Cruz said on Fox News, blasting McConnells Senate Leadership Fund.

Cruz also complained that McConnell abandoned him in his 2018 race against Democrat Beto ORourke.

I won anyway, but barely less than three points, Cruz said.

A leaked intern SLF memo found just a point separating Allred and Cruz, whose favorability is also underwater, according to the memo obtained by Politico.

Vice President Kamala Harris released a new television ad Monday, \"Enemy Within,\" to underscore former President Donald Trumps authoritarian impulses in the final three weeks of the campaign.

The 30-second video shows footage of Trump talking in recent weeks about domestic political opponents as the enemy within, whom he has said are more dangerous than Russia or China. The spot also features Trumps comments on Sunday, saying that the lefts civil unrest around the election should be easily handled by the national guard or if really necessary, by the military.

To hammer the point home, former Trump national security aides Olivia Troye and Kevin Carroll attest to his desire to use violence against protesters and his disregard for the rule of law.

The second term would be worse, Carroll says. There will be no one to stop his worst instincts. Unchecked power. No guardrails.

Harris plans to emphasize these themes at a rally on Monday night in Erie, Pennsylvania. The focus on the dangers Trump poses to the country marks a change from the more upbeat, early party of Harriss campaign, when she preferred mocking Trump in order to diminish him.

Donald Trump squandered the greatest opportunity he had in his life to be a consequential leader, to shape the direction of our nation and bend it toward something positive, she said.

In comparison, electing Harris to the White House could have seismic impacts on the lives of little girls and little Black boys, she said.

I think whats grating on his nerves the most is that this [next] defeat may come at the hands of a woman of color, she said. He reserves his most vitriolic attacks for women of color. To lose to a woman of color would be devastating to his ego.

Former President Barack Obama will travel to Tucson, Arizona on Friday to campaign for Harris.

Obama will attend a Get-Out-The-Vote rally thats scheduled to take place between 2-7:30 pm MST., according to information released by the Arizona Democratic Party. The exact location was not immediately released.

His visit to the battleground state will closely follow similar visits by Harris and Trump. Trump held a rally in central Arizona on Sunday and Harris spent parts of two days in the Phoenix area late last week.

Trump will hold a rally at New York Citys Madison Square Garden later this month, apparently holding firm to the campaigns stated belief that Trump could be the first Republican to flip the Empire State red since Ronald Reagan.

The campaign said Monday hell hold the rally on Sunday, Oct. 27, at 5:00 p.m. ET, and used the announcement to try to tie Harris to New York City Mayor Eric Adams. (The historically unfavorable mayor was hit with a five-count federal indictment last month accusing him of accepting bribes from foreign nationals.)

The second gentleman addressed the polls and campaign experts that show Harris and Trump tied in the race saying that the closeness indicates many Republican voters are lost in a Trumpian fog.

Emhoff sat down for an interview in battleground Georgia with MSNBCs Joe Scarborough, which aired Monday on the networks show, Morning Joe. With three weeks until the election, an NBC News poll released this weekend showed that both Harris and Trump received 48% of respondents support a change that does not bode well for the current vice president, who has enjoyed a lead ever since becoming the Democratic candidate.

I dont think people are hearing what hes saying, Emhoff said of Trump. Because again, theres this fog this Trumpian fog all the gaslighting, all the misinformation, the disinformation and people not willing to see whats right in front of their face.

When asked how the campaign cuts through the pro-Trump noise, the second gentleman pointed to Democrats efforts in swing states to rally voters across the political spectrum.

This is why were rallying Republicans, moderates, independents. This is why our tent on the Democratic side goes, you know, massively wide. Theres a place for everyone here, he said. And again, you dont have to agree with Kamala Harris on every single policy position, although many people actually agree on most if they actually pay attention to what shes saying.

Vice President Kamala Harris has agreed to a sit-down interview with Fox News Bret Baier, the network told the New York Times Monday.

The interview will be taped and air on Wednesday, and is expected to consist of 25 to 30 minutes of questions.

Harris wont be the first on the ticket to enter enemy territory: Her running mate, Gov. Tim Walz (D-Minn.), appeared on Fox News Sunday the last two weekends.

Harris media appearances have ticked sharply upward in the past several weeks, with interviews on 60 Minutes, The View, and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.

She also sat for a live interview on The Howard Stern Show and appeared on Call Her Daddy, a popular podcast.

Both Harris and Trump will campaigning in the key battleground of Pennsylvania today. Harris will deliver remarks in Erie, while Trump will host a town hall in Oaks.

Meanwhile, Walz will travel to Winsonsin, where he will be taking part in a campaign engagement in Eau Claire before heading to Green Bay to join Govs. Tony Evers (Wis.) and Gretchen Whitmer (Mich.) for two events kicking off the Driving Forward Blue Wall Bus Tour.

In an interview with Roland Martin, Harris slammed Trump as dangerous, noting that some of the latest decisions he's made including ruling out a second presidential debate indicate he is unfit to serve another term in the White House.

Stepping off his plane in Detroit, Trump faced a question from a reporter about his health records, and whether he would commit to releasing up-to-date information as Harris has done. Trump appeared to refer the press to letters from doctors released in the years he was president instead. He has refused to make public any more recent details about his overall medical condition.

Trump then challenged Harris to take a cognitive test, claiming he aced his. (As was widely reported, Trump took a very simple cognitive test that includes identifying animals.)

I want to take her do a cognitive test, because she couldnt ace it, because she wasnt born smart, Trump claimed.

Since Harris entered the race for president, Trump has lobbed all manner of insults against her, including reportedly calling her retarded in front of deep-pocketed donors.

Harris Cant Believe They Put [Project 2025] In Writing

At her Michigan rally on Friday, Harris repeated her surprise that Project 2025, an extreme, far-right manual for a possible second Trump term, was put in writing at all.

And now Donald Trump is making the same empty promises to the people of Michigan that he did before, hoping that you will forget how he let you down the last time, Harris said. But we will not be fooled, because we know how to read Project 2025.

The conservative playbook, put together by more than 100 people from Trumps previous administration and nearly 1,000 pages long, has proposals including limiting abortion drug mifepristone and removing thousands of public servants to replace with Trump loyalists.

I just have to keep repeating: I cant believe they put that thing in writing, Harris said. They bound it, they published it and they handed it out, and now theyre trying to run from it? Come on. And so weve read it, its a detailed and dangerous blueprint for what Donald Trump intends to do if he were elected president.
