Civilians, Firefighters Injured In Transformer Explosions At Huntington Beach Oktoberfest

At least four people were injured Saturday night in transformer explosions apparently set off by a fire during an Oktoberfest celebration in Huntington Beach in southern California.

Witness Kyle Nelson told KTLA-5 TV that he saw three large explosions in rapid succession at the festival and captured one on video.

Two firefighters and two civilians were treated for minor injuries, said a spokesman for the Huntington Beach Fire Department.

The blasts apparently occurred after firefighters responded to reports of an electrical fire at the Old World Village Oktoberfest complex. The Orange County Register reported that the explosions erupted as crews trying to find the source of the blaze opened an underground vault .

Authorities are continuing to investigate.
