In May, rumors began swirling that actress and comedian Jenny Slate and Chris Evans (aka Captain America) were dating . On Saturday, the couple appeared to confirm the news when they made their first public appearance together.

Slate, 34, was joined by Evans, 35, at the New York premiere of her animated film, "The Secret Life of Pets." The two didn't pose for pictures outside but they did appear in a few photos together inside the venue -- and they weren't shy about getting close.

Entertainment Tonight caught the couple having a cute moment at the event -- you can check it out in the video above. The entertainment news site also got a chance to speak with Slate, who couldn't help but gush about Evans.

"I haven't really had a large premiere before, so it's nice to have someone who knows how it goes," she said, adding, "it's kind of like I got my dream seventh grade boyfriend."

Slate and Evans, who star together in the upcoming film "Gifted," reportedly went on a double date with Evans' brother Scott in Hollywood back in March. They also appeared together on Anna Faris' "Unqualified" podcast , where Evans said he and Slate are "the same animal."

During the podcast, Slate shared some nice words about Evans, saying, The first night that we hung out, I was like, Wow, I could hang out with Chris for, like, 90 hours.

Looks like she was able to hang out with him for even longer.
