Talk about turning lemons into lemonade.

Lauren Roach, 12, and Landry Nelon, 11, used a lemonade stand to raise $10,000 in two days for the families of the five police officers killed by a sniper in Dallas on July 7.

At first it was just a lemonade stand and then what happened to the police in downtown Dallas made me realize that families out there were in need of money, Landry told Fox 4 .

On July 11, decked out in matching silver sandals , the girls presented a $10,000 check to the five families at the Dallas Police Association building, still in awe of their accomplishment.

At first we thought we would get about $100, but after we got to about $5,000, we realized we could really get this really high up, Lauren told NBC DFW .

Over the course of a weekend, the girls with the help of 9-year-old Emmy Roberts and her 8-year-old sister, Lily sold about 20 gallons of lemonade as well as cookies and brownies to people passing by on foot and in cars by waving colorful posters.
