Ex-Lawmaker Says This Slogan Could Finally Topple Mitch McConnell

Former Rep. Barney Frank (D-Mass.) on Friday offered a new slogan to Democratic Senate candidates who are hoping to oust Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) from his role.

During an appearance on MSNBC s Hardball with Chris Matthews, Frank predicted McConnell would pay a price for vowing to work with President Donald Trump s defense team in a Senate impeachment trial over the Ukraine scandal .

Frank, who served in Congress from 1981 to 2013, said many Republican senators are in a tough spot, trying to both be renominated and also to win in next years election.

You have a number of Republican senators [] who are very much in that bind, he said. And I will tell you I have a slogan that I am suggesting to the Democratic candidates for the Senate all over the country: You dont have to live in Kentucky to vote against Mitch McConnell.

McConnell wont be able to be majority leader if Republican senators from around the U.S. arent reelected, Frank pointed out.

And this where I think things are going to play out politically, he said.
