The A-listers broke out their bold patterns and most creative looks to celebrate Spanish film director Pedro Almodovar at the Chanel-sponsored Museum of Modern Art in New York last night.

Fittingly, there was a lot of Chanel studding the rose-backdropped red carpet. Anna Wintour pulled a repeat in her favorite Chanel Couture blue suit, which she also wore this summer to collect her Legion of Honor medal in Paris. Blake Lively and Emma Stone also dazzled in Chanel; Emma's black and white gown was Chanel Spring 2009 Couture, and Blake looked lovely in tweed from the Fall 2011 Couture collection. 14-year-old actress Chloe Moretz wore a tan and black Chanel dress.

But not everyone was crazy for Coco, at least on the red carpet. Wendi Deng Murdoch wearing a velvet devore dress by Pucci, and Miranda Kerr looked sleek in a bun and a printed blue frock from the Peter Pilotto spring/summer 2012 collection. Elizabeth Olsen surely turned heads in a black dress that was cinched with a red belt.

And Sarah Jessica Parker pulled the most surprising sartorial moment of the night when she accentuated her glittery gown with a ... is that a grandpa cardigan? No, it's a sleeveless overcoat, which is either a style stroke of genius or a nonfunctional attempt to stay warm.
