As the video above will explain, peanut butter and pickle sandwiches are kind of having a moment. They recently got a loving review in the New York Times . The 90-second recipe for the sandwich now lives there as well. Peanut butter and pickle sandwiches have a Facebook page, guys. This has gotten serious.

At Peanut Butter & Co.'s New York Sandwich Shop, you can order up a 'Pregnant Lady ,' but we decided that if we were going to taste this sandwich, it would have to be on our own terms.

Never ones to shy away from a challenge, we at HuffPost Taste decided that these monsters needed to be tried. Like so many odd-sounding food combinations before, we decided that the NYT and 596 Facebook friends couldn't be wrong. So, cautiously, with trepidation, we spread peanut butter on white bread. We tried two different kinds of pickles (separately), kosher dills and the recommended bread and butter pickle. We can tell you with no hesitation whatsoever that this will not be our last peanut butter and pickle sandwich. The way that the creamy peanut butter plays off the crunchy, briny pickle is really kind of amazing. The dill pickle offered a completely savory sandwich and allowed the garlic in the pickle to really come through. The bread and butter pickle offered a sweet counterpoint to the savoriness of the peanut butter, acting a bit more like jelly. Some of us love peanut butter, but get tired of jelly. This is the savory answer to the question, what next?

What do you think guys, are you ready to rise to the challenge? We promise you won't regret it.
