Actor Rock Hudson was everybody's favorite leading man during the '50s and '60s. And even to this day, he stands out to us as an icon and game changer. So, you can imagine our excitement when we found out that his California home is for sale -- and we got a peek inside.

Located in Bermuda Dunes, just miles away from Palm Springs, this place has three bedrooms, two full baths and a stunning fireplace. The home was built in 1958 and Hudson remained the owner until his death in 1985. Inside, there are still touches that resonate with the mid-century period, but outside, it's hard to tell exactly if the tiki theme was Hudson's doing. (Our guess is it wasn't.) But a home with a pirate ship? You know this place is special.

According to the listing by The Paul Kaplan Group there are other original details including the famous "H" monogrammed gate, the green stone hardware on the front door and an unusual window that sits to the left of pool. "[It's] at a very odd angle -- Rock Hudson had it installed, but no one knows what the inside joke is. It looks from the patio to the side yard, and has no function whatsoever," listing agent Matthew Reader told The Huffington Post. We only wish we could have been there for that story.

Reader also told us that Hudson wasn't a stranger to mowing his own lawn on a Saturday morning, and was just as excited about his fans and visitors as they were about him. "There is a wall in the entry that Rock had all guests sign when they came in or went out." Unfortunately it's been painted over, but just knowing you own a home where some of the greatest actors, musicians and directors of that time came for a drink, is enough to make us want to throw down some cash.

This piece of history can be all yours for just $649,000. Click through our slideshow to see photos of this amazing property and be sure to head over to The Paul Kaplan Group for more information .
