GOP Governor Vows Not To Vote For Donald Trump But Then Adds Confusing Twist

Utah Gov. Spencer Cox (R) declared on Thursday that he would not vote for his partys presumptive presidential nominee Donald Trump in the 2024 election.

Cox told CNN s Kaitlan Collins that he wouldnt vote for President Joe Biden either and instead would write somebody in.

But in the same interview, Cox confusingly said he still wants the former president to succeed and for his party to win.

I havent voted for the top of the ticket since 2012. Ive certainly had my concerns. One of those is what happened on Jan. 6, said Cox.

Im hopeful. I want my party to win, he continued. They chose a candidate this time around that was not my first choice. Wasnt my choice last time, either, but the partys spoken, and thats who they have chosen.

He added, I am supportive. I do want Donald Trump to succeed. I want my party to win.

Cox said he was very anxious about who Trump would pick as his running mate because it could make a big difference to his campaign. He said North Dakota Gov. Doug Burgum would be his choice.

He told Collins, I think hes somebody who could actually help to unite the party and lead us into November with President Trump.
