Stanley Tucci , whose acting work includes major blockbusters like The Hunger Games and cult classics like Big Night and Margin Call , revealed one role he would never return to.

I would not play George Harvey again in The Lovely Bones, which was horrible, Tucci told Entertainment Tonight reporter Ash Crossan Tuesday on the red carpet for the London premiere of his Prime Video series Citadel. Its a wonderful movie, but it was a tough experience. Simply because of the role.

Based on the 2002 book by Alice Sebold, Peter Jackson s The Lovely Bones centers on a serial killer and child rapist who sexually assaulted and murdered upward of seven girls. As a father of three at the time he was offered the role, Tucci has said he was resistant.

I asked ... Jackson why he cast me in that role, he told ET. I tried to get out of playing the role, which is crazy because I needed a job. But I was like, Why do you want me? And he said, Because youre funny. And I thought, OK. But I understand what he was saying.

I think what he meant was that I wouldnt be too not that I wouldnt be serious about it, but that I wouldnt be overly dramatic about it, he continued. That I would throw it away a bit. Which is what you have to do when youre playing somebody whos awful, right?
