Do people still buy other people fruitcakes?

Well, according to a couple of bakeries, it seems like the gift that everybody loves to hate still flies off the shelf: A bakery in Dallas reports selling a million cakes every year. A bakery in Claxton, Georgia, the self-proclaimed "fruitcake capital of the world," says it goes through four million cakes a year .
