Iran’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs claimed on Thursday that the US and Israeli strikes have targeted 33 civilian locations nationwide, including hospitals, schools, residential areas, the Tehran Grand Bazaar, and the historic Golestan Palace complex – a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

The Azadi Stadium, Iran’s largest sports complex, was also bombed, as Israel and US have intensified attacks on Iran for a sixth consecutive day on Thursday.

According to Iranian government figures posted on X, citing the Iranian Red Crescent, more than 3,600 civilian sites have suffered damage in attacks attributed to the United States and Israel.

The Iranian Red Crescent chief said that at least 3,090 homes, 528 commercial centres, 13 medical facilities and nine Red Crescent centres have been hit in Israeli-US strikes.

Officials reported damage to major medical facilities, including Khatam Hospital, Gandhi Hospital, and various rehabilitation and welfare centres.

Iranian authorities indicated that some patients were injured when hospital structures collapsed during strikes, while facilities like Valiasr Burn Hospital had been rendered inoperable.

Tehran residents have reported heavier bombardment: “Today is worse than yesterday. They are striking northern Tehran. We have nowhere to go. It is like a warzone. Help us,” said resident Mohammadreza, 36, by phone from Tehran.

Israel confirmed additional attacks on Tehran and explosions continued throughout Iran on Thursday.

The death toll in Iran has risen to at least 1,230 since Saturday, and Israel has expanded its attacks to include Lebanon.

The Iranian Red Crescent stated that damage documentation had been submitted to the International Committee of the Red Cross and other international organisations for potential legal proceedings.

The World Health Organization (WHO) has verified more than 10 attacks on Iran’s health infrastructure during the US-Israeli campaign, resulting in four healthcare worker deaths and 25 injuries.

“WHO has verified 13 attacks on healthcare in Iran and one in Lebanon,” WHO Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus told a news conference on Thursday. A WHO official at the same briefing added that four ambulances were also affected and that hospitals and other health sites suffered minor damage due to nearby strikes.

The conflict expanded on Wednesday when a US submarine torpedoed and sank the Iranian frigate Iris Dena in the Indian Ocean near Sri Lanka. Sri Lankan naval forces reported recovering 87 bodies and rescuing 32 survivors.
