What has the COP26 climate summit achieved?

UN conference in Glasgow reveals huge global divides on tackling climate crisis.

The United Nations COP26 summit in Glasgow was called our last chance to combat the climate crisis.

Representatives from nearly 200 countries spent the past two weeks debating how to limit global warming to 1.5 degrees Celsius from pre-industrial levels.

Negotiations went past Friday’s deadline.

Contentious issues include phasing out fossil fuel subsidies and providing funding for developing nations to adapt.

Major pledges include cutting methane emissions, phasing out coal power and ending deforestation.

But many scientists and activists say the commitments are not enough. So what has the summit achieved?
