2-Year-Old Girl Murdered In Aligarh, Police Arrest 2 Accused

The police said that the accused have been charged under the National Security Act and the case will be tried in a fast-track court.

The Aligarh police on Thursday said in a statement that they have arrested two people for the murder of a two-and-half year old girl in Aligarh, Uttar Pradesh.

The statement said that the accused, Zahid and Aslam, were arrested on 4 June and sent to judicial custody.

The Superintendent of Police, Aligarh, Akash Kulhary said in a video statement that the girl was kidnapped on 31 May. An FIR in the case was lodged by the family of the girl at the Tappal police station of the Aligarh district.

According to the Aligarh police, the body of the girl was discovered on 2 June. A post-mortem report has not confirmed rape, the police said. “The post-mortem showed that the girl had been choked to death. The police suspected that the girl was murdered because of personal enmity. After questioning, the girl’s father said there was a person who he had an altercation with a few days ago over money.”

The accused have been booked under the National Security Act and the case will be transferred to a fast-track court, the police said in their statement.

Opposition leaders condemned the incident and called for justice.
