Chandrababu Naidu Submits Resignation As Andhra Pradesh CM

Telugu Desam president N Chandrababu Naidu has submitted his resignation as the Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh  to the state Governor ESL Narasimhan as YSR Congress looks set to sweep the state. 

Naidu on Thursday said he accepted the verdict of the people of Andhra Pradesh and congratulated YSR Congress on its victory in the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections in the state.

He said the TDP would now review the results and announce the future course of action. 

The YSR Congress is on course to secure a landslide win, leaving the ruling TDP way behind in the assembly elections.

The YS Jaganmohan Reddy-led YSRC has won 9 seats and is leading in 140 seats while TDP has won 1 and is leading in 24, as per trends available with the Election Commission .

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also congratulated Reddy on the “remarkable” win in the Andhra Pradesh Assembly polls. 

“Congratulations on the remarkable win in Andhra Pradesh. Best wishes to you for a successful tenure,” Modi said.

Reddy said the YSRC’s victory was expected.

“I sincerely thank the people who overwhelmingly voted for YSRC and blessed it. I also thank them for exercising their franchise in large numbers and enhanced the value of democracy,” Reddy said in a Facebook post.
