Voting has begun for the 2019 Lok Sabha polls , and we are already past the first phase of elections. There are six more phases to go and to ensure that you make an informed decision, you can look up the details of the candidates who are contesting from your constituency before going to the polling booth

You can check the background of candidates either on the Candidate Affidavit Portal of the Election Commission or by downloading the ‘Voter Helpline’ app.

Here are the steps to check it on the portal:

2. Select your state. A drop down menu with the names of all Lok Sabha constituencies will appear.

3. Click on the name of your constituency.

4. A list of all candidates from that particular constituency and their party will open.

5. You can download every candidate’s affidavit.

Alternatively, you can download the Voter Helpline app  and check candidates’ details.
