Malayalam actress Manju Warrier has filed a complaint with Kerala DGP Loknath Behera against Odiyan director VA Shrikumar Menon, saying she feared he would harm her.

In her complaint, Warrier wrote that she had been receiving “defamatory messages on social media”.

“I tried to ignore them, but Menon has been troubling me. Menon and his friend Mathew Samuel have been posting defamatory statements against me. I am afraid that he may harm me,” she said in her complaint, Malayala Manorama quoted.

Warrier also accused Menon of misusing signed blank cheques and letter pads in the name of ‘Manju Warrier Foundation’.

Menon responded to the allegations on Facebook . In a post published on Tuesday morning, he wrote that he had heard about her complaint through media reports and would cooperate with the investigation.

His post begins with “My dear Manju, why would you do this?” and goes onto talk about how he had helped Warrier’s career.

He also says, “Did you forget that I was the only one to support you? My enemies have become your friends and they have a grudge against me.”

The NewsMinute reports Warrier has worked extensively with Menon and his advertising agency Push Integrated Communications. He has also directed her in ad campaigns for Kalyan Jewellers.

Menon had publicly blamed Warrier for the Odiyan’s box office performance —which was less than expected — even as she was trolled on social media for the film’s underwhelming performance. The film, which was Menon’s directorial debut, had Mohanlal in the lead role.

In her complaint, Warrier accused Menon of trying to defame her through an organised ‘cyber-attack’ after Odiyan’s release in December 2018, News18 reported.
