He surrendered to serve his life sentence in connection with a 1984 anti-Sikh riots case.
The former Congress leader was sentenced to life for the remainder of his natural life by the Delhi High Court on 17 December.
Sajjan Kumar was recently sentenced to life imprisonment in the case by Delhi High Court and asked to surrender by 31 December.
The hearing was adjourned because Kumar's main counsel did not appear before the court to cross-examine witnesses.
The case has been filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on the Nanavati Commissions recommendation.
The Delhi High Court Monday sentenced Congress veteran Sajjan Kumar to life in the first conviction of a politician in the deadly anti-Sikh riots in 1984.
The Delhi High Court sentenced Kumar to spend the remainder of his life in jail.
The Punjab CM, however, said that neither the Congress nor the Gandhi family had any role in the 1984 anti-Sikh riots.
Congress said Kumars conviction should not be politicised and the law should take its own course.
The court has given Kumar time till 31 December to surrender.
