Aaron Mukerjee

Research Associate at Harvard Business School, Author of "Arsenal of Democracy? How Structural Disadvantage Shapes Social Capital and Civic Life in Detroit"

A child of Indian immigrants, Aaron was born in Ohio and raised in Michigan. He got his start in politics and organizing in high school, where he founded STRIVE, a student group advocating for greater student voice in Michigan education policy. Aaron also served as an intern in the Michigan State House during that time. He has since served as an intern at the White House Office of Intergovernmental Affairs, the Democratic Governors Association, and the Constituent Services Office of former Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick. Aaron also assisted with college outreach for Congressman Mark Schauer's 2014 Michigan gubernatorial campaign. Aaron currently serves as the Research Associate at Harvard Business School, where he engages in research and speech-writing around small businesses and economic inequality. Aaron graduated from Harvard College with Highest Honors in Social Studies, and received the Thomas T. Hoopes and Tocqueville prizes for his senior thesis on social capital, institutional trust, and civic engagement in Detroit.
