Former Deputy Counsel to President Obama

Christopher Kang served in the White House Counsel's Office for more than four years and was in charge of the selection, vetting, and confirmation of President Obamas judicial nominees.From 2009 to 2011, he was Special Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, advocating for the Obama Administrations initiatives in Congress, including the confirmations of Supreme Court Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Elena Kagan, the repeal of Dont Ask Dont Tell, and the reduction of the sentencing disparity between crack and powder cocaine offenses. Chris also worked for seven years for U.S. Senate Democratic Whip Richard Durbin (D-IL) as Director of Floor Operations, Judiciary Committee Counsel, and Counsel for labor issues.Most recently, Chris served as National Director of the National Council of Asian Pacific Americans (NCAPA), a coalition of 34 Asian American and Pacific Islander organizations striving for equity and justice.
