Daniel Koehler

Director, German Institute on Radicalization and Deradicalization Studies

Daniel Koehler is the director of the German Institute on Radicalization and Deradicalization Studies. He studied religious studies, political sciences and economics at Princeton University and Free University Berlin. In June 2015, he was named a fellow of George Washington Universitys new Program on Extremism at the Center for Cyber and Homeland Security. He will help design policies and resources for community-based deradicalization programs in the United States. In 2016, he was appointed to be the first court expert on deradicalization in the U.S. at the District Court in Minneapolis. He has since then conducted risk assessment and deradicalization evaluations of terrorist offenders in prison and trained expert personnel from various U.S. government agencies.
