David Ropeik

I am an Instructor at Harvard University and a consultant and speaker on the psychology of risk perception.

I teach, consult in, write and speak about the psychology that explains why we worry about some things more than we need to, and don't worry about some things as much as we should. I wrote "How Risky Is It, Really? Why Our Fears Don't Always Match the Facts', to help society appreciate all we have learned about why we worry too much or not enough, and how that creates a Risk Perception Gap that can be dangerous all by itself.I teach "Critical Thinking About Environmental Issues" in the Environmental Management program of the Harvard School of Continuing Education. Proper to that I was a TV reporter in Boston for 22 years, specializing in coverage of environmental issues.
