Faisal J. Abbas is a journalist, author and Editor-in-Chief of the leading Middle East English-language daily, Arab News. Prior to this, He has been the Editor-in-Chief of the Dubai-based English language service of Al Arabiya News Channel since July 2012. Abbas has been a journalist for over 15 years, starting with Future Television (Lebanon) then Al Hayat pan-Arab daily. Upon moving to London in 2005, he became Asharq Al Awsats media editor. He made his debut in English writing for The Huffington Post in 2008 and since then, has been the recipient of many media awards, one of which is the Social Impact Award for Saudi Arabia at the recently held British Council Study UK Alumni Awards. Abbas gives regular talks about Arab media, politics and society in a number of renowned academic institutions and is a member of the British Society of Authors, National Union of Journalists (NUJ) and the Cambridge Union Society (CUS).
