Jacob J. Lew

Former Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources, 2009-2010

Former White House Chief of Staff, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, and Deputy Secretary of State for Management and Resources under President Obama, Secretary Lew was appointed the 76th Secretary of the Treasury in early 2013. Secretary Lews tenure as Treasury Secretary capped 25 years of public service, focused on helping middle class families; driving sound, equitable policy outcomes; and protecting Americas interests at home and abroad. He served in multiple roles in President Bill Clintons administration, culminating as Director of the Office of Management and Budget. Prior to the Obama administration, he was a Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer at Citigroup, and Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of New York University, where he was also a Professor of Public Administration. Early in his career, Secretary Lew served as Principal Domestic Policy Advisor to House Speaker Thomas P. ONeill, Jr. Secretary Lew serves on the board of the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, and is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, the National Academy of Social Insurance, and of the bar in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
