Richard J. Heydarian is an Asia-based academic, having taught political science at De La Salle University and Ateneo De Manila University, and has been a consultant/policy adviser to a number of local and international institutions. As an expert on current and international affairs, he has written for or/and interviewed by Aljazeera, Bloomberg, BBC, CNN, CNBC, Foreign Affairs, The Financial Times, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Economist, The Washington Post, The Nation, TIME, Reuters, South China Morning Post, NPR, USA Today, , among many other leading publications. He is the author of How Capitalism Failed the Arab World: The Economic Roots and Precarious Future of the Arab Uprisings. He is also the author of Asia's New Battlefield: US, China and the Struggle for Western Pacific State.He has contributed to major global think tanks such as the Centre for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS), Brookings Institution, and the Council on Foreign Relations (CFR).
