Maribel Hastings

A native of Puerto Rico, Maribel Hastings is a graduate of the University of Puerto Rico. Before becoming America's Voice Senior Advisor, she worked for La Opinin, the largest Spanish-language daily in the U.S. Maribel became La Opinin's first Washington, D.C. correspondent in 1993. In that capacity, she covered Congress, major political stories and elections. Previously, she worked for the Associated Press, San Juan, Puerto Rico Bureau. During her career, Maribel has received numerous awards, including the 2007 Media Leadership Award from the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) for her coverage of the immigration debate in the U.S. Senate. She is also a national political commentator to national Spanish-Language TV.

Maribel Hastings es Asesora Ejecutiva de Americas Voice. En sus ms de dos dcadas como periodista, Maribel report sobre una diversa variedad de asuntos concentrndose en la poltica nacional. Fue la primera Corresponsal en Washington, D.C. del diario La Opinin de Los ngeles, para el cual trabaj durante casi 20 aos. Previamente labor para la agencia de noticias Associated Press en San Juan, Puerto Rico. En su larga carrera ha recibido varios reconocimientos incluyendo el Premio de Liderazgo de Prensa de la Asociacin Nacional de Abogados de Inmigracin (AILA) por la mejor cobertura del debate migratorio en el Senado federal en 2007, as como reconocimientos de la Sociedad Interamericana de Prensa (SIP), entre otros.
