Seth Herald is an American photojournalist who has worked across the United States and around the world documenting social unrests and issues, politics, health issues, and armed conflict.In 2014 and 2018 he lived and worked in the de facto capital of the Palestinian West Bank city of Ramallah where he documented daily life under occupation across the Occupied West Bank, in 2015 he documented the HIV epidemic in Southern Indiana, for which he won Associated Press awards for his work. In 2019 he spent time in Hong Kong covering the Pro-Democracy protest and in 2020 with the world on lock-down he documented the socioeconomic and human cost of the Pandemic in the Midwest United States and his community of Detroit during the nationwide protests in response to the murder of George Floyd.Most recently he is focusing his attention on the Russian Invasion of Ukraine where he has documented stories of Ukrainians fleeing the war and mass atrocities being committed by Russian forces.He seeks to document the human condition and the toll these moments in history have on the lives of those living through them, in a manner that others can attempt to understand and that hopefully the generations to come can learn from.
