Just weeks following a debate surrounding the production of Whitney Houstons forthcoming biopic , the Lifetime Network has once again landed itself back in the hot seat with another casting choice. This time for the announcement of their developing Aaliyah film .

Critics have blasted the network over their decision to cast recording artist and Disney Channel star, Zendaya, as lead in the biopic which will be filmed this summer and is scheduled to air this fall. To add insult to injury, the late singers family also isn't in support of the project.
