MacKenzie Bourg's Whitney Houston Cover Is Why We Used To Love American idol

You'll wanna dance with somebody.

Forget the children. MacKenzie Bourg is our future.

The "American Idol " contestant was a clear standout as the show honored the Grammys on Thursday. Bourg chose to perform a slowed-down version of Whitney Houston 's "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," and it's safe to say it'll probably make you wanna dance with somebody.

Other than the wacky auditions (shoutout to William Hung ), moments like these were the reason we used to love "Idol." That seemed to get lost somewhere along the way (probably around the same time as that Nicki Minaj/Mariah Carey feud).

So thanks, MacKenzie and all the other contestants doing stuff like this. The show has nothing, nothing, nothing, if it doesn't have you.
