Anderson Cooper Reveals The Rational Reason Why He Mutes Donald Trump On Twitter

CNN’s Anderson Cooper doesn’t want to deal with the drama of Donald Trump’s tweets 24/7. So he’s muted the president on Twitter .

“I just don’t want to have that drama in my life,” Cooper told Stephen Colbert on Monday’s broadcast of the “Late Show ” while talking about Trump’s baseless wiretap claims he tweeted  over the weekend. 

“I have great respect for the president, I just don’t need to follow him on Twitter,” Cooper added.

When Colbert suggested the CNN journalist should possibly always know what the commander in chief is tweeting about, Cooper likened it to the way he deals with his friends “who have mania.”

“I don’t want to be around them all the time,” he said. “I don’t want them to have my private line and be able to call me, I don’t want the ups and the downs in my life, I just want to be calm.”

Cooper also talked about how he decides which of Trump’s tweets to report on and explained why he believes the president’s Twitter habit is “a large distraction” away from what the White House is doing, but not a “pure” one. And he revealed he’s “rethinking” his relationship with Trump’s adviser, Kellyanne Conway .
