We've often lamented that Ann Romney doesn't take enough fashion risks, or rather, doesn't take the right kind of risks, opting for widely-mocked expensive shirts or bright dresses that nearly blind us.

Risk, again, was the name of the game for Mrs. Romney's latest ensemble. A week after the "LIVE! With Kelly and Michael" dress that shocked the world, the potential FLOTUS strolled out for another TV appearance: her "Tonight Show" interview with Jay Leno , where she talked about her husband Mitt Romney being a "playaholic" and other things. But we were almost speechless with regards to her all-black outfit, comprising a printed leather jacket, a matching tiered leather scalloped skirt and some lacy heels. Some shiny bangles and earring set off the sparkly collar on her jacket.

It's definitely the boldest look we've seen her in, and if you ask us (we know you are) it's a style setback compared to her recent powerhouse red Oscar de la Renta.

If Mrs. Romney, who usually opts for subtler looks, is trying to turn over an edgier style leaf, this is definitely... a new kind of leaf.

Scope out photos of Mrs. Romney's outfit below and catch a clip of her interview. (You can see the full thing on NBC.com .)
