Blind Pit Bull Abandoned After Giving Birth Is Now On A Much Happier Path

Poly's finally getting the TLC she always deserved!

Sometimes, all you need is love and care to bounce back. And that's exactly what this abandoned pit bull got.

Poly, a 3-year-old blind pit bull, was discovered last month alone and tied to a park bench in Santa Barbara, California, according to a Facebook post. The poor dog had also recently given birth.

The Santa Barbara County Animal Services picked the pooch up and luckily, volunteer group ForeverHome Pet Rescue, Inc. reached out to animal services and rescued her, according to a press release from the group. She's now getting the TLC she always deserved at her new foster home. Her progress at her new digs is being tracked on her Facebook page in the form of diary entries.

Poly has received an outpouring of support after her story broke. With the pooch's popularity, ForeverHome started Poly's Fund , a online fundraiser to cover the cost of medical expenses for the dog late last month. While the goal was to raise $3,000, her devoted fans smashed through that number, donating more than $7,500 by Tuesday afternoon in the name of helping the lovable pup. The excess funds, the group said in a press release, will go to other small rescue organizations.

When the dog was examined following her discovery, she was found to have a severe heart condition, a skin condition and swollen lymph nodes in addition to her blindness, according to the Poly's Fund's page

Thankfully, things are definitely looking up for her. Poly has been getting medical attention and treatment. Her skin condition has already shown improvements and she'll continue to see specialists regarding her different health issues, according to her Facebook page.

On top of her health improvements, she's also been enjoying some serious fun with her foster family. ForeverHome Pet Rescue told The Huffington Post she's been "fantastic" at her foster home. Judging from her Facebook page, it also seems she's developed quite a knack for modeling adorable getups like a caterpillar costume and a super squee-worthy tutu

The adorable dog isn't ready for adoption yet though. ForeverHome Pet Rescue told HuffPost that all depends on her recovery and what the specialists say about her eye and heart problems.
