In a world of boxer braids, mini buns and fresh new Timberlands, Black America has finally found a style not yet appropriated by White America.

Its great because its been awhile since weve had something that White America hasnt taken, renamed, and deemed trendy, says Michael Watson, from Atlanta, GA. I think well probably have access to this trend for maybe a year or so before they catch on.

When asked about the specifics of the style, Mr. Watson ended the interview abruptly before running desperately down the busy sidewalk.

The history of White America appropriating...sorry, repurposing Black American style goes back for years. Nothing has been safe: dance moves, hip-hop, fashion, lips, vernacular, and even hair styles.

It didnt start with Bo Derek, remarked Natasha Stevens from Mobile, AL, and it wont end with her ass either. But this one, this one will be ours.

Bo Derek is an America icon, who is best remembered for wearing cornrows, popularizing the style, back in the 1970s.

Its never acceptable until white people do it. I remember wearing a bright blue wig back in the Freak-a-leek days. I loved that thing. However, when I wore it to work, I was told bright colored hair wasnt allowed. I specifically remember a coworker of mine calling me ghetto under her breath. It was terrible. But, what was frightening was her showing up with rainbow hair about a year ago. Rainbow hair. Everyone loved it....I just hid in the bathroom and cried.

Mrs. Stevens declined to give any information on the new trend. When pressed for an answer, she slammed her car door shut and burned rubber trying to exit the parking lot.

Some members of White America are confused over why Black Americans are so offended by the theft and watering down of their culture. New York native, Rebecca Smith, had a lot to say over these accusations.

We arent stealing anything, its cultural appreciation. We just deeply appreciate how cool these things are and want to show that by copying them. Its a cultural exchange, if you will.

When asked about what White America was giving to Black America in these exchanges, Rebecca replied Straight hair, institutional racism, discrimination, clean air, freedom, crack, a wage gap, and world peace.

Im a liberal, so we are very, very giving. But, do you have any idea what their new thing is. Im dying to know!
