Bruce Springsteen Is Worried Trump Wants To Take Down The Entire System

At this point, it seems exceedingly unlikely  that Donald Trump will win the 2016 presidential election and become the so-called leader of the free world. But to hear Bruce Springsteen tell it, that doesn’t mean the Republican presidential nominee can’t do some real damage on his way out of politics. 

“I don’t think he’s going to go gently into the good night,” Springsteen recently told the U.K.’s Channel 4 News. “I think he’s going to make as big a mess as he can.”

In recent days, Trump has pushed forward unsubstantiated claims that the U.S. election process is “rigged,” a claim that has been rebuffed by Republicans and Democrats alike. On Tuesday, President Barack Obama said Trump was “whining before the game’s even over. ” Many are convinced Trump is simply trying to get out in front of his near-inevitable loss so he can shape the narrative to his liking. 

But Trump’s willingness to question the very foundation of American democracy in doing so has many worried, including Springsteen, who has called Trump a “moron ” in the past.

“He’s such a flagrant, toxic narcissist that he wants to take down the entire democratic system with him if he goes,” Springsteen said.

He then reiterated, “He simply has no sense of decency and no sense of responsibility about him, and the words that he’s been using over the past several weeks really are an attack on the entire democratic process.”

“I think it’s very dangerous,” Springsteen added.
