“Can we take a joke?” is a valid cultural question right now. A new documentary of the same name takes a close look at the intersection between brash comedy and free speech. So how do humorists respond to the hatred perpetuated by, say, the Westboro Baptist Church? Find out in the “Can We Take a Joke?” clip below, exclusive to The Huffington Post.

The movie opens in select theaters on July 29 and premieres via VOD platforms on Aug. 2. It features interviews with Gilbert Gottfried, Penn Jillette, Lisa Lampanelli, Adam Carolla, Jim Norton and Heather McDonald.
