Cory Monteith's Name Misspelled In Grammys Tribute

Grammys Blows Cory Monteith Tribute With Spelling Error

Cory Monteith was recognized Sunday night (Jan. 26) at the 2014 Grammy Awards, but the Recording Academy botched the tribute with a spelling mistake.

The "Glee" star was included as part of the Grammys' In Memoriam montage of those who died in 2013. Included in the visual tribute were individuals like Lou Reed, Phil Everly and Monteith. But when the actor's name flashed across the screen, Monteith was incorrectly spelled "Montieth."

Mike Morrison, a Canadian blogger and writer for Metro News, took a screen grab of the mishap. He posted the image to Twitter and tweeted that someone might face some serious repercussions for it.

Monteith was found dead on July 13, 2013 at the Fairmont Pacific Rim Hotel in Vancouver, Canada. His cause of death was later identified as a mixed-drug toxicity involving heroin and alcohol. He was 31 years old.

He was nominated for multiple Grammys for his work on "Glee," Just Jared noted, including Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals for Dont Stop Believin'" (Regionals Version) in 2011.
