Dale Hansen Gives Powerful Speech Following Week Of Violence

"It was not just an attack on the Dallas police; it was an attack on our basic humanity."

Dale Hansen , a sportscaster for the ABC-affiliated WFAA  television station in Dallas, gave a powerful speech on Friday regarding the current state of violence in the U.S. during his show, “Hansen Unplugged.

Hansen’s speech came in response to the shootings of five police officers during a Black Lives Matter protest in Dallas on Thursday. In his message, he discussed the way so many Americans seem to not only expect violence, but accept it.

“This is what I have become. This is what too many of us have been for a long time now,” Hansen said of brushing aside the violence our world is facing. “We’ll fly our flags at half-mast, we’ll say all the right things, we’ll make promises we won’t keep and then nothing will change.”

Hansen closed his speech by adding that the Dallas shooting was “not just an attack on the Dallas police; it was an attack on our basic humanity and the common decency we used to cherish in America.”

“But that’s all gone now," he said.
