Dark Lipstick Tips For Recreating Kate Bosworth's Vampy Beauty Look (VIDEO)

Think you can't rock those dark, vampy lips? Think again.

One of our hands-down favorite beauty moments from 2012 was Kate Bosworth 's enchanting, yet vampy makeup look at the Met Gala . By taking the '90s dark goth lip and adding a high-sheen gloss, the effect felt quite sophisticated in a 1940s way.

We've become even better friends with dark lip color this winter the deep-tinged look just feels so becoming in the colder months. Check out the video above for a play-by-play guide to recreating Bosworth's look.

Since lips are the major focus here, you'll want to keep everything else fairly simple. Start by priming the eye, then apply a pink-y beige color all over the eyelid. For a little glow, sweep a sheer gold shadow on top. Next, line the eye with a soft charcoal liner -- this will add a little definition, but will feel softer than liquid liner. A few swipes of mascara to the outer lashes will make them look healthy and defined, as opposed to clumpy.

For the big lip look, start by lining lips with a nude liner, then fill the lips in with a deep crimson color . Dab on a sheer chocolate brown gloss, which will create a rich, shiny effect. Finish the look by filling in brows.

Take a look at the dark lip trend through the years, along with our favorite options to create the look.
