Diane Lane: It's Time To Take Women's Rights 'Beyond The Plateau'

"I believe that the female perspective is a very healing and circumspect one, and we have a right to equal voice."

Diane Lane isn't satisfied with the state of women's equality today.

In a conversation with HuffPost Live on Wednesday, the "Trumbo " actress acknowledged the "distance traveled" in the fight for gender equality, while also noting a "plateau level in women's accomplishments being furthered."

"We need to stay vigilant and keep the conversation alive and keep the light shining bright and not give up and not become complacent," she urged. "We gotta get beyond the plateau."

With abortion rights  constantly under threat and the pay gap reinforcing inequality in the workplace -- the entertainment industry included  -- Lane emphasized the importance of continuing to fight for the cause.

"We gotta keep pushing, and I believe in it," she said. "I believe that the female perspective is a very healing and circumspect one, and we have a right to equal voice."
