Simone Biles Was Asked To Smile. Her Response To That Question Is Gold.

This is what you call sticking a landing.

Simone Biles  was not happy with the judges’ feedback on Monday night’s “Dancing with the Stars ,” and her face couldn’t hide her frustration.

Following her Paso Doble performance , judge Carrie Ann Inaba said she saw improvement, but added that the Olympic gold medalist should be careful not to dance “like a metronome.” Host Tom Bergeron jumped in, asking, “I was waiting for you to smile at some of the compliments, you didn’t.”

(Oh, dude. No.)

Biles’ response: “Smiling doesn’t win you gold medals.”

The comment shut down the host, earning “oohs” from the audience and a ton of support online.

Bergeron knew he made a mistake, later calling his question “clumsy” and tweeting that he “unwittingly added to the smile pile.”

Biles opened up about her feelings on the judges’ feedback and Bergeron’s smile comment backstage to Entertainment Tonight .

The Olympian said she had tears in her eyes but pulled it together, adding, “I am trying and I am being honest. But if they don’t see that, I don’t know what else more I can do.

After making it through the week, Biles will be back for the “DWTS” semifinals. We’re guessing Bergeron’s “clumsy” questions will not.

”Dancing with the Stars” airs Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on ABC.
