Does Eric Trump Actually Know Which State Mike Pence Governs?

He praised Indiana Gov. Mike Pence's record in ... Illinois.

Illinois and Indiana are two different states, only one of which is governed by Donald Trump ’s running mate, Mike Pence . This detail apparently confused the GOP presidential nominee’s middle son, Eric Trump, during a Tuesday morning appearance on Fox News

“Mike is solid as a rock, and I’ve got to know him incredibly well ... His track record in his home state, in Illinois, or in his home state is exactly why we picked him and why my father picked him. He’s amazing.” Trump told Fox News anchor Bill Hemmer during an appearance on “America’s Newsroom.”  

When Hemmer corrected him, Trump chalked up the error to a slip of the tongue. 

Pence is the current governor of Indiana which is smaller, less populous and actually completely different from its neighbor, Illinois. He’s set to debate Sen. Tim Kaine (D-Va.), Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s running mate, on Tuesday night. 

Along with his siblings, Donald Jr. and Ivanka, Eric Trump is one of the Republican nominee’s most active surrogates on the campaign trail.
