4 Fall Runway Makeup Looks That We Want To Wear In Real Life (PHOTOS)

Fall Runway Makeup That We Want To Wear In Real Life

We'll be the first to admit that not every makeup look we see backstage during fashion week is pretty. Sometimes the designers and beauty teams pique our interest with something that's, well, completely crazy like the heart-shaped mime faces at Vivienne Westwood 's spring 2013 show and bright red, raccoon-shaped eyeshadow at Gareth Pugh . We can go on and on with a list of outrageous moments , however, we'd like to bring to your attention four not-so-WTF runway beauty trends worth giving a go in the real world this fall.

While one of my fellow editors (Eh hem, Ellie . I'm calling you out!) may not be jumping on the oxblood bandwagon this season, the reddish-brown shade popped up on models' pouts at Gucci , Christian Siriano and Rochas . And thanks to our favorite "Unapologetic" star Rihanna, the '90s throwback lip color is having a major moment today. We think that it's a sexy, yet sophisticated alternative to classic red, and looks stunning with just a few swipes of mascara and a natural face.

Girls at Altuzarra , Anna Sui and Lanvin looked cool as they bat their lashes to reveal graphic winged-out eyeliner. Whether drawn on in black or electric blue, the unconventional shapes are sure to make for interesting conversation-starters at the office or happy hour.

At Issa , Michael Kors and Rodarte , blush was swept on in various degrees, ranging from simply pinched to hot and bothered. This proved that on chilly days, a flush of color on the cheeks is all you need to appear as if you're naturally glowing. You can adapt this look into a more wearable finish by applying a cream product (or even lipstick) that is as close to your natural coloring after coming in from the cold.

The always-in-style smokey eye was revamped at DVF , L'Wren Scott and Jason Wu in smudged gray, navy and green hues -- colors that can instantly make your eye color pop. But if you're intimidated by the intensity of the shadow, keep the pigment closer to the lids and avoid blending too far out towards the brow bone.

Click through the slideshow below to see these makeup trends from the fall 2012 runways , plus product recommendations to help you get the looks at home.
