Video Captures Fisherman's Very Close Call With Angry 200-Pound Marlin

This is one tale these fishermen will likely never forget.

Conor Cogan and his friends had been fishing off Port Stephens, Australia, on New Year’s Day when they got a little too close to a feisty striped marlin .

As video captured by Cogan shows, the 200-pound fish leapt out of the water toward the boat, nearly impaling him and knocking him into the sea. “Pretty much as close as it gets,” Cogan wrote on Facebook .

Be warned that the video contains strong language:

Cogan told the Newcastle Herald that the marlin “hit him,” but he was left without a scratch.

The news outlet said the mighty fish “lived to fight another day .”
